Warrant abolishing Polling Places, and appointing
others in lieu thereof.
JAMES FERGUSSON, Governor.
TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING:
WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elections
Act, 1870," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor, by Warrant under his hand,
from time to time to appoint Polling Places for each
Electoral District within or within one mile of the
limits thereof, and to appoint any one of such Polling
Places to be the Principal Polling Place for the
district, and all or any of such Polling Places from
time to time to abolish, and, if he think fit, to appoint
other Polling Places in lieu of those abolished, and
that every such Warrant shall be published in the
New Zealand Gazette: Provided always that no
Polling Place shall be appointed by the Governor
under the said Act unless he shall be first satisfied
that the place to be appointed is more convenient
than any other for at least twenty electors to record
their votes thereat:
And whereas by Warrant under the hand of the
Governor, bearing date the thirtieth day of Decem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and seventy,
The House of Mr. Cuthbert Cowan, Hokanui, and
The House of Mr. Angus McLean, Wairaki,
were appointed Polling Places for Wallace, for the
election of Members of the House of Representa-
tives:
And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same:
Now know ye that I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Act,
do hereby abolish the above-named Polling Places for
the District of Wallace, for the election of Members
of the House of Representatives, and do appoint in
lieu thereof,-
The Police Station, Lowther, and
The House of Mr. Robert F. Cuthbertson, Otahu,
Waiau.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand

Regulations under "The Life Assurance Companies
Act, 1873."
JAMES FERGUSSON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me by "The Life Assurance
Companies Act, 1873," I, Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, do hereby make the following Regulations for
the Registration of Policies, in accordance with the
said Act, that is to say,-

Every policy-holder, who is such in respect of a
policy or other contract made, issued, granted, or
entered into in New Zealand by a Company who
shall have made a deposit of securities under "The
Life Assurance Companies Act, 1873," may, if the
policy or contract has been made before the com-
mencement of the said Act, register such policy or
contract with the Public Trustee within twelve months
after the commencement of the said Act, but not
after; and if made after the commencement of the
said Act, then within six months after the making
thereof. -
The person intending to register a policy shall
either deliver the same to the Public Trustee at his
office in Wellington, or may deliver the same to an
agent to be appointed as hereinafter provided, and
every such person shall make application to register
such policy in the form following, or to the effect
thereof:-

I, , of , hereby make application to register the
under-mentioned policy under "The Life Assurance Companies
Act, 1873," viz. Policy issued by the , numbered
, dated , 18 , on the life of , for the
sum of Β£ , under Table , of that Company. The
said policy is held by . My postal address for the
purposes of the said Act is at , in the Province of .

The signature of the person making application to register
shall be attested by at least one witness.

In every such application there shall be stated
the postal address of the policy-holder, as the address
to which notices required by the said Act to be sent
to him may be addressed; and when, and as often as
any person shall change his postal address, he shall
give notice in writing to the Public Trustee of such
change of address. -
The Public Trustee shall keep a book, to be
called "The Postal Address Book," in which shall be
entered in alphabetical order the name and address
of every policy-holder who may have registered a
policy under the provisions of the said Act, and upon
receiving notice of any change in the postal address
of such policy-holder, the Public Trustee shall make
a fresh entry of such address in the Postal Address
Book, in such form as he may think convenient. -
The Public Trustee may from time to time
appoint such and so many persons, and in such places
in New Zealand as he thinks fit, to receive from
policy-holders their policies or contracts for trans-
mission to the Public Trustee for registration; and
upon receipt of any such policies or contracts, such
person so appointed shall forthwith transmit the same
to the Public Trustee for registration. -
Every person who shall deliver any policy to
the Public Trustee for registration, or who shall
deliver the same to one of such agents to be trans-
mitted for registration as aforesaid, may require a
receipt for the same in the form following, or to the
effect thereof:-

to the Public Trustee for registration] under "The Life Assur-
ance Companies Act, 1873," a policy issued by the

- The Public Trustee shall make and keep a book
for the registration of policies, in which the following
particulars of each policy shall be recorded :-
