Defining Limits of Land under "The Wanganui River
Foreshore Grant Act, 1873."

hereby order and prescribe that the said land so
defined shall extend to the water frontage to the
depth in the said Schedule mentioned.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
fourth day of March, 1874.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

W HEREAS by "The Wanganui River Foreshore
Grant Act, 1873," it is, among other things,
enacted that, within six months after the passing of
the said Act, it shall be lawful for the Governor in
Council to define the limits of the land to be in-
cluded and set apart as the site of the Customs
Examination Shed on Taupo Quay in the said Act
mentioned; but the area to be so set apart shall not
exceed one quarter of an acre, and shall extend to
the water frontage to such depth as the Governor
shall prescribe, not exceeding the limits by the said
Act defined, and may extend in depth so as to have
a frontage on Taupo Quay aforesaid:

Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir James Fer-
gusson, Baronet, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, in performance and exercise of the power
and authority vested in him by the hereinbefore in
part recited Act, and by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Colony,
doth hereby define the limits of the land to be in-
cluded and set apart as the site of the said Customs
Examination Shed to be those set forth in the
Schedule hereto: And in further pursuance and
exercise of the said power and authority, and by and
with the like advice and consent as aforesaid, doth

SCHEDULE.

A PIECE of land situate in the Town of Wanganui,
in the Province of Wellington, being part of the
foreshore of the Wanganui River, containing one
rood, or a little less. Bounded by a line com-
mencing at a point (125) one hundred and twenty-
five links east-south-east from the south-west angle
of Nixon Place and Taupo Quay; thence running in a
north-north-easterly direction along the south-east
side of Taupo Quay, (90) ninety links; thence in an
east-south-easterly direction to a point in the river
having a depth of (3) three feet of water at low
water spring tides, (277) two hundred and seventy-
seven and three-quarter links; thence in a south-
south-westerly direction to another point in the
river having a depth of (3) three feet of water at
low water spring tides, (90) ninety links, thence in a
north-north-westerly direction, (277) two hundred
and seventy-seven and three-quarter links, to the
place of commencing.
