LIGHTSHIP ON THE TIMARU BANK, DUNEDIN
HARBOUR.
NOTICE is hereby given, that, on and after the 1st
January, 1874, a Fixed White Light will be exhibited
from a Lightship moored on the Timaru Bank, in
the Lower Harbour of Dunedin. It will show an
unbroken light all round, and may be seen in clear
weather five miles.

ON and after the 1st January, 1874, the Tidal
Signals now in use at the Lightship will be super-
seded by the following Code; the Signals being made
from the yard-arms of the new Lightship, instead of
from a gaff-end as at present:—

DISCOVERY OF A ROCK AWASH IN THE SANTA CRUZ
ISLANDS.
LIEUTENANT COMMANDER SUCKLING, of H.M.S.
"Reynard," reports the discovery of a rock awash
in lat. 10° 40′ 45″ S., long. 165° 44′ Ε.
The following magnetic bearings were taken from
the "Reynard," when the rock bore N. 60° W., 100
yards distant, viz. :—
Centre of Tinakula or Volcano Id., N. 3° W.,
north end of Guerta N. 70° Ε.
