The CENSUS ENUMERATORS and the SUPERIN-
TENDENT COLLECTORS under "The Census
Acts Amendment Act, 1867,"
a notification of whose appointment appears in this
Gazette, or whose appointments may be hereafter
notified in any subsequent Gazette, to frank and
receive, free from prepayment of postage, for a
period of four months from this date, Letters and
Packets addressed from or to them "on Census
business only:"

New Issue of Postage Stamps.

Wellington, 22nd December, 1873.
IT is hereby notified, that, on the first of January
next, a new issue of New Zealand Postage
Stamps, of the denominations of One Penny, Two-
pence, Threepence, Fourpence, Sixpence, and One
Shilling, will be made. The following are the
designs and colours of the Postage Stamps of the
new issue :β
One Penny.
Queen's Head, on an oval ground, printed in Mauve.
Twopence.
Queen's Head, in dotted circle, printed in Crimson Lake.
Threepence.
Queen's Head, in circle, printed in Sepia Brown.
Fourpence.
Queen's Head, on a square ground, printed in Indian Red.
Sixpence.
Queen's Head, in circle and hexagon, printed in Blue.
One Shilling.
Queen's Head, on an oval ground, printed in Green.
The Halfpenny Postage Stamp is not changed.

Reduction of Postage on Letters for Australia and
Tasmania.

IT is hereby notified for public information, that on
the 1st of January next, the rate of postage on
Letters posted in this Colony for Australia and
Tasmania will be reduced from Threepence to Two-
pence per half-ounce.

TENDERS are invited for a Post and Telegraph
Office at Mosgiel, in the Province of Otago.
General conditions, specifications, and drawings
may be seen at the Offices of the Colonial Architect,
Wellington, and at the Post Office, Mosgiel.
Tenders addressed to the Hon. the Minister for
Public Works, and marked outside "Tender for Post
Office," will be received at the office of the under-
signed up to noon of Monday, the 19th day of
January, 1874.
Telegraphic tenders will be received, provided the
original tender and deposit are lodged with the
nearest District Engineer at the time specified
above.
The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the interest and
responsibility of Mr. GEORGE MCLEAN in the
Copartnership heretofore subsisting between the
undersigned, under the style of "Cargills and
McLean," has ceased, through the retirement of the
said George McLean from the said Copartnership.
The business of the said firm will henceforth be
carried on, under the same style, by Messrs. John
Cargill and Edward Bowes Cargill.
