2. In these rules and regulations the word
"claim" shall mean a claim held for mining pur-
poses under "The Gold Mining Districts Act, 1873,"
and any regulations now in force thereunder or by
virtue thereof.

Reserve for a Site for a Redoubt at Tapuacharuru,
in Auckland.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At Christchurch, this eleventh day of December,
1873.

Present:

THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER, PRESIDING.

WHEREAS by "The Waste Lands Act, 1858,"
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council, at any time and from time to
time, to except from sale, and either reserve to Her
Majesty or dispose of in such other manner as for
the public interest may seem best, such of the waste
lands of the Crown in any of the Provinces of the
Colony as may be required for the purposes of
military defence, or for the construction of trunk
lines of road, or as sites for public buildings for
the use of the General Government, or for other
purposes of public utility or convenience:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, in exercise and pursuance of
the power and authority in that behalf vested in him,
doth hereby except from sale and reserve to Her
Majesty the several parcels of the waste lands of the
Crown particularly specified and described in the
Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the
said Schedule mentioned and set opposite the descrip-
tion of the said parcels of land respectively.

All that parcel of land situated
at Tupuacharuru, Lake Taupo,
containing 76 acres, more or less;
bounded towards the North by a
line about 550 links; towards the
East by a line 3000 links, by a
line across the main road, by that
road 600 links, 825 links, and 2600
links; towards the South-west by
a road along the shore of Lake
Taupo, 1500 links; and towards
the West by a line 1000 links, and
by the Waikato River. | As a site for a redoubt, or
other purposes of the
General Government.
Also all that parcel of land As a site for a rifle range.
situated at Tapuaeharuru, Lake
Taupo, containing 4 acres 1 rood
8 perches, more or less; bounded
towards the North by a line 4300
links; towards the East by a line
100 links; towards the South by
a line 4300 links; and towards
the West by the main road, 100
links.
The boundaries of the said par-
cels of land are more particularly shown on the plan numbered Ar 13, deposited in the Office of the Secretary for Crown Lands, at Wellington. |

Province of Auckland.

TO JOHN WILLIAMSON, Esquire, Superintendent of
the Province of Auckland.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the several parcels of
waste lands of the Crown particularly specified
and described in the Schedule hereunder written are
required for the purposes mentioned and set opposite
to the description of the said parcels of land re-
spectively in the said Schedule, and that the same
have been respectively excepted from sale and re-
served to Her Majesty by the Order in Council
bearing the date mentioned in the second column of
the said Schedule.
