Proclamation extending Civil Jurisdiction of East
Coast District Court.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The District
Courts Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1866," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by
Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette,
to bring into operation with respect to any District
Court, from and after a day to be named in such
Proclamation, either the whole of the said Act or
such sections thereof as to him may seem fit:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the said power and authority
vested in me for this purpose, do hereby proclaim
and declare that on the first day of December, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-three, the said
"District Courts Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1866,"
shall come into operation with respect to

THE EAST COAST DISTRICT COURT.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and
its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same; and issued under the Seal of
the said Colony, at Christchurch, this
seventeenth day of November, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-three.

Proclamation abolishing Extended Jurisdiction of Resi-
dent Magistrate's Court for the Napier and Waipu-
kurau District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Resident Magistrates Act,
1867," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor, by Proclamation in the New
Zealand Gazette, at any time to abolish the extended
jurisdiction which he is by the said Act authorized to
confer upon any Resident Magistrate's Court: And
whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the twenty-
ninth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-three, the limit of jurisdiction of the Resident
Magistrate's Court hereinafter mentioned was ex-
tended to one hundred pounds: And whereas it is
expedient to abolish the extended jurisdiction given
to the said Court by the said Proclamation:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby, in pursuance of the power and authority
vested in me by the said Act, proclaim and declare
that, on and after the first day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, the ex-
tended jurisdiction so given as aforesaid to the
Resident Magistrate's Court for

THE NAPIER AND WAIPUKURAU DISTRICT
shall be abolished.

said Colony, at Christchurch, this seven-
teenth day of November, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-three.

Block of Land set apart for the Purposes of "The
Westland Loan Act, 1873."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Westland Loan Act, 1873,"
it is, among other things, enacted that a block
or blocks of waste lands of the Crown, in the County
of Westland, not exceeding in the whole two hundred
and fifty thousand acres, shall, in the manner therein
provided, be set aside as a special security, as between
the Colony and the County of Westland, for the loan
by the said Act authorized: And by the said Act
it is also enacted that the land so to be set aside shall
be such as shall be agreed on between the Governor
and the Chairman of the County Council of the said
County, and shall be of fair average value, and in
one block or more blocks than one; and if in several
blocks, of blocks of not less than fifty thousand acres
each: And it is by the said Act further enacted,
that such lands, when selected and agreed upon,
shall, by Proclamation by the Governor in Council
published in the New Zealand Gazette, be declared
to be set aside for the purposes of the said Act:
And whereas the block of land described in the
Schedule hereto has been selected out of the waste
lands of the Crown in the said County, and has been
agreed on between the Governor and the Chairman
of the County Council of the said County as the land
to be set aside for the purposes of the said Act:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the powers and authority
vested in me by the said in part recited Act, and by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Colony, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the block of land described in the
Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby set
aside for the purposes of "The Westland Loan Act,
1873."

SCHEDULE.

A BLOCK of land not exceeding in the whole two
hundred and fifty thousand acres, situated and being
within the following boundaries, viz. :-On the North
the Waitaha River; on the South the Waitaroha
River; on the East the boundary of the County;
and on the West the coast line.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
James Fergusson, Baronet, a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy
Council, the Governor of New Zealand,
and Vice-Admiral of the same, at Christ-
church; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, this twenty-fourth day of
November, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-
three.
