THE Clerk of the Writs has received a Return to
the Writ issued by him on the 17th day of
June, 1873, for the Election of a Member to serve in
the House of Representatives of New Zealand for
the Electoral District hereinafter specified; and by
the indorsement on such Writ it appears that the
under-mentioned gentleman has been duly elected
Member for such District, viz. :-

I, DAVID LEWIS, a Commissioner duly appointed by virtue of the Ordinance No. 15, Session
XI., of the Legislative Council of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and decide Claims to
Land by persons claiming title thereto from, through, or under the New Zealand Company, report that
the Claims of the under-mentioned persons, having been duly referred to me for investigation, I do hereby
decide that the said persons are respectively entitled to Crown Grants of the land set against their
names in the annexed Schedule.

Inquiry for Missing Person.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 19th August, 1873.

INQUIRIES having been made respecting a person
named PETER NEWMAN, formerly a soldier
in Her Majesty's 58th Regiment, in which regiment
he enlisted in 1842, and who obtained his discharge
in 1861 or 1862, and afterwards served in the
Military Settlers, -any one who can give any infor-
mation respecting him is requested to communicate
with this office.

IN the matter of "The Friendly Societies Act,
1867:" Notice is hereby given, that a transcript
of the Rules of
The A.O.F. Friendly Society, in the Wellington
District,
duly certified, has been received by the Registrar of

Societies Act, 1867."
