CHANGE IN LIGHT AT THE BIRD ISLANDS, CAPE OF
GOOD HOPE.
WITH reference to my notice, dated 1st November,
1872, which appeared in the Government Gazette on
the 8th November, notifying that a fixed White
Light of the Third Class, Dioptric, would be sub-
stituted for the present Double Lights at the Bird
Islands early in the year 1873, -Notice is now given
that the original intention has been abandoned, and
that instead of a White Light, a fixed Red Light of
the Third Class, Dioptric, will be exhibited at the
Bird Islands on or about the 1st April next.
Sailing directions will be published at an early
date.

Crown Grant to be cancelled.
Court of Land Claims,
Wellington, 20th June, 1873.
PURSUANT to the provisions of "The Land
Claims Settlement Extension Act, 1858," it is
hereby notified that the Crown Grant specified in
the Schedule hereunder written (which Grant was
called in by notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette of 25th June, 1859), has been adjudged to
be null and void by order of Court, dated 13th June,
1873, and the person who is in possession of the said
Grant is required to deliver up the same to be can-
celled pursuant to law.

Land reserved for Site for a Church.
WHEREAS by the regulations for the sale and
disposal of lands taken under the authority
of "The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," and
"The New Zealand Settlements Amendment and
Continuance Act, 1865," contained in the Schedule
to an Order in Council made and issued, bearing date
the 11th of May, 1871, it is provided that reserves
for roads and all other public purposes whatever, and
for education, and the sites for churches and chapels
or other places of worship for different religious
denominations, may be made by Government out of
any confiscated lands, and that notices of all such
reserves shall be published in the New Zealand
Gazette: It is hereby notified, that the land
specified in the Schedule hereunder written shall
be reserved for the purposes therein mentioned and
set opposite the descriptions of the said parcels of
land respectively.

Notice of Road alteration-Kai Iwi to Waingongoro.
WHEREAS the Governor, under the provisions
of "The Immigration and Public Works Act,
1870," having deemed it expedient to alter the line
of a road from Kai Iwi to Waingongoro, according to
the terms of a certain Proclamation made the tenth
day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
three, by excepting thereout that portion of it which
is situated between a public road adjoining and lying
to the north of Suburban Allotment No. 10, Township
of Carlyle (Patea) and the junction line of Suburban
Allotments 63 and 64, abutting on the Kakaramea
Road, and which is of the length of 79 chains 68 links
or thereabouts, and by declaring that in lieu thereof
a piece or portion of road described in the Schedule
to such Proclamation should be and become a part of
the said road from Kai Iwi to Waingongoro: Notice
is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of the
said Act, that the course and bearings of the lastly
hereinbefore mentioned piece of road, a description
whereof is given in the Schedule hereto, the ad-
measurements required for the same, and the lands
through which the same passes, together with the
names of the owners and occupiers thereof, so far as
known, are respectively shown and delineated on a
certain plan marked I., copies of which plan are
deposited and may be seen and inspected at the offices
of the Public Works Department at Wellington and
New Plymouth.
And notice is hereby further given, that all or any
person or persons affected by the making of the said
piece of the line of road from Kai Iwi to Waingon-
goro, are required to set forth in writing, addressed
to the Governor, and left at the office of the said
Public Works Department at Wellington or at New
Plymouth, within forty days from the first publication
hereof, any well-grounded objection he or they may
have to the said piece of the line of road.
Dated at Wellington this 25th day of June, 1873.
SCHEDULE.
THE alteration commences at the public road lying
to the north of and adjoining Suburban Allotment
No. 10, Township of Carlyle (Patea); thence through
Sections No. 63 and No. 64, being bounded on both
sides by said sections, to a point on the Kakaramea
Road, about 10 chains south of the dividing line
between Sections 63 and 64; thence along Kakaramea
Road as before.

Notice of Roads intended to be made from Gisborne to
Ormond, from Makaraka to Pipiwaka Bush, and
from Mendlesham to the Ferry at Wharaurangi.
NOTICE is hereby given, that the Governor of
New Zealand having, under the powers in him
vested by "The Immigration and Public Works Act,
1870," deemed it expedient to open and make a new
line or lines of road from Gisborne to Ormond, from
Makaraka to Pipiwaka Bush, and from Mendlesham
to the Ferry at Wharaurangi, and which line or lines
of road are, in the opinion of the Governor and the
Executive Council of the Colony, not a line or lines
of road to be constructed by the Superintendent and
Provincial Council of the Province of Auckland, and
the course and bearings of which said line or lines
of road, the admeasurements required for the same,
and the lands through which the same pass, together
with the names of the owners and occupiers thereof,
so far as known, are respectively shown and
delineated on a certain plan marked I., and which
said line or lines of road are also described in a
certain Proclamation made under the said Act, and
