for the purposes in the said Schedule mentioned, or
for any other purpose whatsoever under the Confis-
cated Land Regulations.

The said parcels of land shall and may be sold
and disposed of under the said Confiscated Land
Regulations in like manner as other land subject
thereto may be sold and disposed of; and, subject to
the regulations hereby made, all the provisions of the
said Confiscated Land Regulations shall, in so far as
applicable, extend and apply to the said parcels of
land, and the sale or disposition thereof. -
For the purposes of these regulations, the
term "Confiscated Land Regulations" shall mean
the regulations attached to and made by the Order
in Council of the eleventh day of May, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-one, hereinbefore men-
tioned.

Regulations under "The Militia Act, 1870."

WHEREAS by the thirty-ninth section of "The
Militia Act, 1870," it is enacted that all fines
paid under the preceding section of the said Act
shall be paid to the Officer Commanding the Bat-
talion or independent Company to which the offender
belongs, and shall be accounted for, dealt with, and
be applied towards the encouragement of target
practice in such Battalion or independent Company
in such manner as shall be prescribed by regulations
to be made from time to time by the Governor:
And whereas it is expedient that such regulations
should be made:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Officer Ad-
ministering the Government of the Colony of New
Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers
and authorities vested in him by the said Act, doth
hereby make the following regulations for the pur-
poses aforesaid:-
REGULATIONS.

All fines imposed on Militiamen for breaches
of the provisions of the 38th section of "The Militia
Act, 1870," shall be collected by the Officer Com-
manding the Battalion or independent Company, and
paid into the Public Account. -
When the fines so collected in any Battalion or
independent Company shall amount to the sum of
two pounds sterling or upwards, the Officer Com-
manding such Battalion or independent Company
will offer the same as rifle prizes, to be fired for
under such regulations and conditions as he may
from time to time fix; but no prizes shall be offered
for competition unless the minimum sum of two
pounds sterling shall have been received and is
available for such purpose. -
The Officer Commanding the Battalion or in-
dependent Company will send to the Acting Under-
Secretary for Defence a return of the amount of
fines collected by him during the quarter, and a
statement showing the manner in which he proposes
to offer the money for competition.

trator of the Government, and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Ma-
jesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same; and issued at Wellington, this
sixteenth day of May, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-three.

IT is hereby notified, that the various Vaccination
Districts of the Colony, as defined in the
General Government Gazette Extraordinary, No. 28,
of Friday, 9th May, 1873, are coincident with the
Registration Districts established under "The Mar-
riage Act Amendment Act, 1858," and "The Registra-
tion Act, 1858," respectively, as now existing; and
that, for the purpose of citing the definition of such
last-named districts respectively, it shall be sufficient
to describe them as defined in the said Gazette, No.
28, of 9th May, 1873.
