that such hereditaments, or any part thereof or
interest therein, as shall to the Governor in Council
be shown to belong to such infant, lunatic, or other
person under legal disability, shall be vested in
trustees as the Governor in Council shall think fit:
And whereas by virtue of a Crown grant bearing date
the twenty-second day of May, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-seven, the parcel of land and
hereditaments described in the Schedule hereto
became vested in Karaitiana Takamoana, Te Hapuku,
Karauria Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, Ropata Te
Hoakakari, Tupurupura, Paora Nonoi, and Ihaka
Kapo, of the District of Napier, in the Province of
Hawke's Bay, aboriginal natives of New Zealand:
And whereas Karauria Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi,
one of the persons named in the said Crown grant,
died intestate: And whereas at a Native Lands Court
held at Napier, in the Province aforesaid, on the nine-
teenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy, Arini, a minor, claimed to succeed to the
interest of the said Karauria Tamaiwhakakitea Te
Rangi, in the said parcel of land described in the said
Schedule, and it was ordered by the said Court that
the said Arini Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, and Te
Roera Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, Iraia Hekara
Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, Te Riu Tamaiwhakakitea
Te Rangi, Turanga Te Matenga Tamaiwhakakitea Te
Rangi, Repeka Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, and Pane
Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi should succeed to the
hereditaments aforesaid: And it is expedient that
Edward Lyndon and Tareha Moananui be appointed
trustees under the said Act on behalf of the said
Arini Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, Te Roera Tamai-
whakakitea Te Rangi, Iraia Hekara Tamaiwhakakitea
Te Rangi, Te Riu Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, Turanga
Te Matenga Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, Repeka
Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, and Pane Tamaiwhaka-
kitea Te Rangi, during their minority:
Now therefore, His Excellency Sir George Fergu-
son Bowen, Governor of New Zealand, with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony, in exercise and in pursuance of the powers
and authorities vested in him by the said Act, doth
hereby order that the estate or interest of the said
Karaŭria Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi in the said
land described in the said Schedule shall be and
remain vested in the said Edward Lyndon, merchant,
and Tareha Moananui, an aboriginal native of New
Zealand, of Napier, in the District of Napier, Province
of Hawke's Bay, as trustees within the meaning and
for the purposes of the said Act, for the said Arini
Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, TeRoera Tamaiwhakakitea
Te Rangi, Iraia Hekara Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi,
Te Riu Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, Turanga Te
Matenga Tamaiwhakakitea Te Rangi, Repeka Tamai-
whakakitea Te Rangi, and Pane Tamaiwhakakitea Te
Rangi, during their minority.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 5328 acres, more or less, situate at Ngatarawa,
in the District of Ahuriri, in the Province of Hawke's
Bay, and being called or known by the name of
Ngatarawa and numbered 4. Bounded towards the
North-east by Te Awa Te Atua Block, 19,500 links,
and by a stream towards the South-east; by the said
stream, and by the Mangaroa Block, 12,290 links,
1420 links, 2010 links, 4914 links, and 8200 links;
towards the South-west by the Ngatarawa No. 5 Block,
22,200 links; and towards the West and North-west
by the Ngatarawa Block No. 2, and the Ngatarawa
Block No. 1, 3300 links, 9250 links, 14,650 links,
and 300 links, to the commencing point.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of December, 1872.
Present:
THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER, PRESIDING, AND
MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Westland Waste Lands Act,
1870," provision is made for the formation of
special settlements within the County of Westland,
in the unoccupied parts thereof, for colonization, in
order to advance the development and prosperity of
the said County: And whereas by the seventy-eighth
section of the said Act, it is provided that it shall be
lawful for the Governor in Council, upon a resolution
passed by an absolute majority of the County Council,
from time to time to declare, by Proclamation in the
New Zealand Gazette, that certain blocks of land
within the said County, south of the Mikonui River,
as prescribed in such Proclamation, are set apart and
reserved to establish settlements for colonization upon
the terms in the said section specified: And whereas
a resolution of the County Council was passed by an
absolute majority of such Council on the seventeenth
day of February, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-one, to the effect that the block of land, as
recommended by the Report of the Committee on
Southern Settlements, be set apart and reserved for
the purpose of establishing a special settlement under
Part II. of "The Westland Waste Lands Act, 1870;"
And whereas another resolution of the said Council
was passed by an absolute majority of such Council
on the sixteenth day of August, 1871, to the effect
"That in the opinion of this Council it is desirable
that Blocks Nos. 2 and 3, south of the Mikonui, be
set apart under section seventy-eight, Westland
Waste Lands Act, 1870," as special settlements in
the County of Westland:" And whereas the blocks
of land described in the Schedule hereto are the
blocks of land referred to in the said resolution, and
it is expedient that the said resolutions should be
given effect to:
Now therefore, His Excellency Sir George Ferguson
Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in him by the said in part recited Act, in
accordance with the terms of the said resolutions,
and by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Colony, doth hereby
proclaim that the blocks of land described in the
Schedule hereto are set apart and reserved to
establish settlements for colonization upon the terms
in the said seventy-eighth section mentioned.
SCHEDULE.
BLOCK I.
COMPRISING fifty thousand (50,000) acres, and ex-
tending from the Haast River to a point two (2) miles
south of the Arawata River; bounded on the East by
a line three and a quarter (34) miles distant, and
generally parallel to the coast; on the South by
Smoothwater Bay River.
BLOCK II.
Comprising twenty thousand (20,000) acres :
bounded on the North-west by the sea coast; on the
North-east by the Mikonui River; on the South-east
by a line two (2) miles from, and generally parallel
to, sea coast; and on the South-west by the Wan-
ganui River. Exclusive of reserves and gold-
workings.
BLOCK III.
