beacon top, painted red, has been placed on the edge
of the sandspit, to the southward of Yatala Harbour,
in 17ft. at low water spring tides, on the following
bearings:—Mount Grainger N.N.E. 1 E., and Mount
Gullet E. by S.

A red Buoy of the same description has been
placed on the S.W. end of Ward's Spit, in 18 ft. at
low water springs, on the following bearings :—
Point Lowly, N.W., distant 3¼ miles, and the beacon
on the N.W. end of Ward's Spit, N. 35° E., distant
1½ mile.

The Nun Buoy, on the south end of the eastern
shoal, has been shipped to the west side of the shoal,
and painted red; it now lies in 21 ft. at low water
springs on the following bearings:—Mount Young,
N. 85° W., and Point Lowly, N. 10° E.

A small rocky patch, on which the ketch "Dashing
Wave" is reported to have struck, and having only
four feet of water on it at low water, is stated to
exist about N.W. from the Walrus Rock, distant a
short mile. As this danger lies directly in the track
of small vessels trading to and from Moonta and
Wallaroo, they are hereby directed to give the same
a wide berth.

BEACON.—STRUYS POINT.

His Excellency the Governor having directed that
a stone Beacon, 32 feet in height, 10 feet square
at base, and 6 feet at top, surmounted by a Copper Ball
four feet in diameter, shall be erected at Struys Point,
in terms of a recommendation of the Lighthouse
Commissioners,—It is hereby notified that such Beacon
is now in course of erection, and will be completed on
or about the 10th of February, 1872.

The Beacon will be coloured red to Seaward, and in
red and white bands on East and West sides, and is
being built close to high water mark, spring tides.

NOTICE.—It is hereby notified for public infor-
mation, that the under-mentioned Rural Sections
in the Whenuakura Block, which includes part of
the Provinces of Wellington and Taranaki, will be
offered for Sale by auction on Thursday, the 7th day
of November next, at the upset prices named in the
Schedule hereunto attached. The Sale will be held
at the Survey Office, Carlyle, and will commence at
12 o'clock noon.

TERMS OF PAYMENT.

One-fourth of the purchase money in cash on the
fall of the hammer; the remainder at or before the
expiration of three calendar months from the day of
sale, to be paid at the Office of the Commissioner of
Confiscated Lands, Wanganui.

By clause 18 of the Confiscated Land Regulations,
under which the sale is to take place, "in the event
of the second payment not being made as aforesaid,
the sale shall be void, and the deposit forfeited."

The Whenuakura Block lies between the Patea
and Whenuakura Rivers, on the former of which the
Town of Carlyle is situated. The main road between
Wellington and New Plymouth, and the surveyed
railway line, run through the centre of the block,
and access to each section has been provided by road
lines laid off during survey. The land is some of the
