appoint that the tolls to be paid for passing or
repassing through or at the ferry at the Upper
Crossing of the Manawatu River aforesaid shall be
at the rates set forth in the Schedule hereto, and do
fix and appoint the exemptions from such tolls as in
the said Schedule mentioned, and do declare that the
same shall be applicable only to the said ferry at the
Upper Crossing of the Manawatu aforesaid.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint
THOMAS UPPADINE COOK, Esq.,
to be Registrar of Marriages, and of Births, Deaths,
and Marriages, for the District of Foxton, as the
same is defined in Proclamation of 18th day of Sep-
tember, and published in the New Zealand Gazette,
No. 51, of 19th September, 1871, vice Batten Smith,
Esq., resigned. This appointment to take effect on
and from the 1st day of July, 1872.

For every horse or head of cattle carried or
towed over, including the rider or person

For every sheep, goat, or pig ... 0 1
For every dray or cart ... 2 0
For every horse or bullock drawing same ... 0 6

Exemptions.

Mail coaches and horses, with their drivers and
passengers, and Engineers in charge of General
Government Works on the Manawatu and Seventy-
Mile Bush Roads.
