called or known by the name of "Kahuitara No. 2,"
and numbered 2090. Bounded towards the North
by the Kahuitara No. 1 Block, 1118 links, 1898
links, 3187 links, 2094 links, 1493 links, 598 links,
and 4375 links; towards the North-east by the
Tukemokihi No. 2 Block, 5255 links; towards the
East by the said Tukemokihi No. 2 Block, 5930
links; towards the South-east by the Tukemokihi
No. 3 Block, 6335 links, and by the Rewa Block
5252 links; towards the South by the Ruarakaiputara
Block, 3740 links, 267 links, 2400 links, 954 links,
856 links, 1216 links, by the Waikoko Stream, by Te
Kiwi Block, 1020 links, 1400 links, and 389 links,
and towards the West by the Paeroa No. 3 Block,

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Auckland, this
twenty-seventh day of April, 1872.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Petty Sessions Act, 1865,"
it is enacted that the Governor, from time to
time, by Order in Council, whereof notice shall be
published in the New Zealand Gazette, may constitute
and define districts within and for which Courts of
Petty Sessions respectively shall be held, and such
districts, or any of them, may from time to time in
manner aforesaid abolish, and the boundaries thereof
may define or alter:

And whereas by an Order in Council, bearing date
the twenty-second day of July, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-eight, His Excellency the Gover-
nor, in pursuance and in exercise of the power in
that behalf vested in him as aforesaid, did define the
District of Port Albert, in the Province of Auckland,
to be a district within and for which Courts of Petty
Sessions should be held for the purposes of the said
Act: And whereas it is expedient to abolish the
district aforesaid, and to define other districts within
the Province of Auckland within and for which Courts
of Petty Sessions shall be held for the purposes of
the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir George Fer-
guson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, in
pursuance and in exercise of the power in this behalf
vested in him as aforesaid, doth hereby, with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony, abolish, from and after the first day of July
next, the District of Port Albert, within the Province
of Auckland, defined in the said Order in Council,
and, with the like advice and consent, doth hereby
define the districts following to be districts, from
and after the said first day of July, within and for
which Courts of Petty Sessions shall be held for the
purposes of the said Act, that is to say:-

PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND.

Mahurangi District.

Bounded towards the North-east and East by the
sea from the south-eastern angle of the Parish of
Arai to the Weiti River; towards the South by the
Parishes of Okura and Pukeatua, and the Kaukapa-
kapa River; towards the South-west by the Kaipara
River; towards the North-west and West by the
Hotea River and Parish of Arai. Including also the
Islands of Kawau, Motukeka, Motureka, Orawaike,
Motuhora, and Tiritirimatangi.

Port Albert District.
Bounded towards the North-east by the Kaiwaka
River, the Parish of Kaiwaka, the Topuni, Oruawharo,
and Te Hana Rivers, and thence following the north-
ern boundaries of allotments Nos. 103 and 104 of the
Parish of Oruawharo to the southern angle of the
Parish of Arai, and thence by the Parish of Arai
aforesaid; towards the East and South-east by the
Hotea River; towards the South by the Kaipara River;
and towards the West by the entrance to the Wairoa
and Otamatea River.

Mangawhai District.

Bounded towards the North-east by the sea from
Bream Tail to the eastern angle of the Parish of
Arai, thence following the south-eastern boundary of
the said parish to its junction with the Parish of
Oruawharo, thence by allotments Nos. 104 and 103
of the Parish of Oruawharo aforesaid, and Te Hana
River; thence towards the South-west by the Orua-
wharo and Topuni Rivers; thence following the
South-eastern and South-western boundaries of the
Parish of Kaiwaka and the Kaiwaka River; towards
the West by the Parish of Wairau; and towards the
North-west by the Parish of Waipu, and a straight
line produced to Bream Tail.

Matakohe District.

Being all that territory in the Province of Auck-
land and County of Marsden, comprising the Parishes
of Matakohe, Paparoa, Wairau, and Whakapirau,
and the Native land called Hukatere.

Tokatoka District.

Bounded towards the North-east by the Tauraroa
Block, or land known as Walton's Claim and the
Parish of Tauraroa; towards the East by the Parish
of Matakohe, the Wairoa River, and the entrance
to the Kaipara Harbour; towards the South-west by
the sea; and towards the West and North-west,
following the north-west boundary of the Kopuru
Block, and the Wairoa River to the point of com-
mencement.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

Examination Act, 1870," it is, among other
things, enacted that, for the purposes of the examin-
ations in the said Act mentioned, the Governor in
Council may from time to time appoint and remove
Examiners, and award the remuneration to be paid to
them: And whereas it is expedient to appoint an
Examiner of Engineers for the purposes of the said
Act:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
of the authority in me vested by the said Act, and
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Colony, do hereby appoint

JOSEPH NANCARROW

to be an Examiner of Engineers for the purposes
of the examinations in the said Act mentioned and
provided for.
