THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
to this Office a full address to which their Medal
could be sent, accompanied by a declaration before a
Justice of the Peace that they are the persons
referred to in the Rolls above named, and that they
did serve under the Imperial Authorities as therein
stated.
The Gazette can be seen at any Militia or Post
Office.
It must be distinctly understood that persons
receiving the New Zealand War Medal from the
Imperial Government for services performed under
command of Imperial officers are not entitled to a
second Medal for services performed under the
Colonial Government.
All applications for Medals awarded by the Im-
perial Government to persons whose names appear
in the lists above referred to must be received at
this Office within two years from the date of this
Notice, or the applications will be rejected.

MASTERS of Steamers going to or from the above
wharf are cautioned against passing inside (or to the
northward) of the Mooring Buoys placed off the
Screw Pile Jetty, to prevent their fouling vessel's
chains with the screw.

CAPTAIN GRAINGER, of the Australian and Californian
Mail Steamer "City of Melbourne," reports the
existence of an Island not laid down in the Admiralty
Charts, situated in latitude 11.34 south, longitude
165.26 west.
It is described as being a hundred feet high, nearly
round, and two miles in diameter; and it has breakers
extending a quarter of a mile from its southern
extreme.
Captain Grainger also reports passing over the
position, without seeing any indication from the mast-
head, of an Island placed on the chart in latitude
11.52 south, longitude 165.01 west.
