make the under-mentioned promotions and
appointments, viz.:---

In the Drury Light Horse Volunteers.
Captain James Baird Hay, New Zealand Militia, to
be Captain. Date of commission, 17th April, 1871.

In the Lyttelton Artillery Volunteers.
Lieutenant Edward Giraud to be Captain. Date of
commission, 18th May, 1871.

In the No. 1 (City Guards) Company, Otago Rifle
Volunteers.
Ensign Adam Somerville to be Lieutenant. Date of
commission, 20th February, 1871.
John Torry Douglass to be Ensign. Date of com-
mission, 20th February, 1871.

ENQUIRIES having been made respecting the
persons particulars of whom are given below,
any one who can give any information respecting
them is requested to communicate with this office.

Name-Henry Zoring.
General Personal Appearance-Tall, about 6 feet;
slender, fair complexion, light hair, whiskers, beard
and moustache, small nose, light blue eyes, stoops a
little when walking; speaks with foreign accent.

Other Particulars-Is a German, about 33 years
of age; a sailor; has served in the Armed Constabu-
lary; ; was last heard of at Poverty Bay.

Name-Amelius Taylor.
Occupation-Formerly Lieutenant, 36th Regi-
ment; subsequently in Armed Constabulary; since
employed by City Engineer, Wellington.
General Personal Appearance-Tall, about 5 feet
10 inches; dark hair; good-looking; about 30 years
of age.
Left India in 1864, and was last heard of at
Wellington.

MONEY ORDER OFFICES.
ENGLAND.

On the first of April the following alterations will
take place, namely :-

  1. The designation of the Office in London at
    Notting Hill Gate, W., will be changed to Notting
    Hill (High Street), W.
  2. During the past quarter, Money Order Offices
    were opened in London at Poplar, E., Seething Lane,
    E.C., and Westminster Palace Hotel, S.W.; and the
    Offices at Great Tower Street, E.C., Poplar (Penny-
    fields), E., and Princes Street (Westminster), S.W.,
    were abolished.
  3. Money Order Offices will be opened in the
    Country at-
    Addington Street, Ramsgate ... Kent
    R.O.
    Alvaston ... Derby ... Derby
    Armathwaite ... Carlisle ... Cumberland
    California, R.O. Halifax ... York
    Exchange, R.O. Liverpool ... Lancaster
    Gateacre Liverpool ... Lancaster
    Hillgate, R.O. Stockport ... Chester
    Hopwood Manchester ... Lancaster
    Kirkby-in-Ashfield Mansfield ... Nottingham
    Landsdown Cres- Bournemouth Hants

  4. The Office at Thornbury (now subordinate to
    Bristol) will be made a Railway Sub-Office.
  5. The Money Order Offices at Hanford (Stoke-on-
    Trent), Parkend (Lydney), Sandgate Road (Folkes-
    town), Twycross (Atherstone), and Castle Street,
    Dale Street, Exchange Street, East, and Old Hall
    Street (Liverpool), will be abolished.
  6. During the past quarter Money Order Offices
    were opened at Esplanade, R.O. (Ryde), and Neville
    Street, R.O. (Newcastle-on-Tyne); and the Office at
    Westgate (Newcastle-on-Tyne) was abolished.
  7. During the past quarter Cross Inn and Cwm
    Amman (formerly subordinate to Llanelly), and
    Llandilo, Llandovery, and Llangadock (formerly sub-
    ordinate to Carmarthen) have been made Railway
    Sub-Offices.
