A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Weights and Measures Act,
1868," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor from time to time to appoint In-
spectors of Weights and Measures for any Pro-
vince, County, Borough, or District, or for each of two or
more divisions of any Province, County, Borough, or
District, the boundaries of which divisions shall be
proclaimed from time to time in the New Zealand
Gazette
by the Governor: And whereas it is ex-
pedient that Inspectors should be appointed for the
divisions of the County of Westland, the boundaries
whereof are set forth in the Schedule hereto, and
that the boundaries of such division should be pro-
claimed:

Therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
G.C.M.G., Governor of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon
me by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare
that for the purposes of the said Act there shall
within the said County of Westland divisions or
districts, the boundaries whereof shall be the boun-
daries set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
DISTRICT No. 1.

Bounded on the North by the southern boundary
of the Province of Nelson; on the West by the sea
coast; on the South by the Teremakau River; and
on the East by the dividing range.

DISTRICT No. 2.

Bounded on the North by the Teremakau River;
on the West by the sea coast; on the South by the
Hokitika River and H. O. track; and on the East by
the dividing range.

DISTRICT No. 3.

Bounded on the North by the Hokitika River and
H. O. track; on the West by the sea coast; on the
South by the southern boundary line of the County;
and on the East by the dividing range.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Welling-
ton, this sixth day of June, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-one.

WHEREAS by "The Immigration and Public
Works Act, 1870," it is among other things
enacted that the Governor may, by warrant under
his hand, from time to time delegate to any person or
persons he may think fit, or to a Board or Boards of
Commissioners to be from time to time appointed by
him, any of the powers conferred upon him, subject
to such restrictions or limitations as to the road,
railway, or other work with regard to which such
powers may be exercised, or as to the district or part
of the Colony within or with regard to which the
same may be exercised, as he may think fit, and may
confer on any such person or persons, and on any
such Board or Boards, the power to delegate to any
Agent or Agents any of the powers delegated by the
Governor, subject to such conditions as the person
or persons or the Board or Boards may think fit to
impose; and the Governor may from time to time

revoke any such delegations or appointments: And
whereas by "The Railways Act, 1870," it is enacted
that the Governor may construct and maintain, or
cause to be constructed and maintained, certain
railways mentioned and set forth in the several
Schedules thereto: And whereas I have determined
to construct and maintain certain railways under the
provisions of the said Acts, or of one of them: And
whereas it is expedient that I should delegate certain
of the powers conferred upon me by the said first-
mentioned Act, to the person hereinafter named:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand, under and by virtue of
the authority vested in me by the said first-mentioned
Act, do, by this my Warrant under my hand, delegate
to

the Minister of Public Works, full power and
authority, so long as he shall remain such Minister,
from time to time to give and sign all necessary
notices, and to do, sign, and execute all such further
or other acts, deeds, matters, or things which may
be requisite under the provisions of the said first-
mentioned Act (or under the provisions of the several
Acts therewith incorporated), for ascertaining and
determining the compensation to be made to any
persons being owners of, or having any lesser estate
or interest in any lands taken, occupied, or used
under the authority of the said Acts or one of them,
or which may be damaged by the construction of
any such railway.

Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New

whereas by "The Railways Act, 1870," it is enacted
that the Governor may, under the provisions of the
first-mentioned Act, contract for the construction of
a railway from Dunedin to Clutha as in the said Act
mentioned, and the limits, description, and line
whereof are more particularly declared and defined in
a certain Proclamation dated the twenty-second day
of May last past, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette
of the twenty-seventh day of the same month:
And whereas under the provisions of the said Acts or
