an Easterly direction to the road line along the
south-eastern watershed of the said Monro's Gully;
thence in a South-westerly direction along the said
road line to the south boundary of Block XVIII.,
Tuapeka East Survey District aforesaid; thence in a
Westerly direction along the said boundary to a point
due south of Trigonometrical Station E aforesaid;
thence in a Northerly direction to the road line first
above mentioned; thence in a North-easterly direction
along the said road line to the starting point.
GABRIEL'S DISTRICT
Comprises all that area described in the Proclamation
above referred to, bearing date the 12th of November,
1867, and published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 61, 14th November, 1867, excepting therefrom
the area contained in Blue Spur District above
described.
HYDE DISTRICT
Comprises all that area bounded towards the North
by the Taieri River and Run 203, from Sowburn to
Kakanui Peak; thence along the north-eastern and
south-eastern boundaries of Run 255 to Deep Dell
Creek, at its junction with the Waihemo River;
thence due South to a point due east of the north-
eastern corner of Run 307; thence Westerly to Run
307; thence along the south-eastern boundary of the
said Run 307 and Sutton's Stream to the Rock and
Pillar Ranges; thence along the western boundaries
of Runs 213 and 204 to the Taieri River, at the
junction of Sowburn, the starting point.
HAMILTON DISTRICT
Comprises all that area bounded by a line proceeding
from Lammerlaw along the western watershed of the
Upper Taieri River to South Roughridge Hill;
thence to North Roughridge Hill; thence to Mount
Ida; thence along the ranges to Kyeburn Hill;
thence to Kakanui Peak; thence along the northern
and western boundary of Hyde District, before
described, to Sutton's Stream; thence along Sutton's
Stream to its source; and thence to Lammerlaw, the
starting point.
WAIKOUAITI DISTRICT
Comprises all that area bounded towards the North-
west by Hyde District, before described; towards
the North-east by the Kakanui Mountains and the
Horse Range to the ocean; towards the South-east
by the ocean; and towards the South and South-
west by the Dunedin, North Taieri, and West Taieri
Districts.
And I do declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation and take effect on the fifteenth day
of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
one.

Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington,
this eleventh day of January, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-one.

A PROCLAMATION.
W
HEREAS by "The Registration Act, 1858," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor at any time, by Proclamation in the New
Zealand Gazette, to divide the Colony of New Zealand,
for the purposes of the said Act, into such and so
many districts as he may think fit, and that every
such district shall be called by a distinct name, and
shall be a Registrar's district; and it is provided that
the Governor may at any time revoke the whole or
any part of such Proclamation, and issue a new
Proclamation dividing the Colony or any part of it
anew into districts, or increasing the number or
altering the boundaries of districts, as from time to
time he may think requisite:
And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the twelfth day of November,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, the
Governor, in pursuance of the said recited power and
authority, did amongst others constitute a district for
the purposes of the said Act, called the "Gabriel's "
District, the boundaries whereof were therein set
forth, which said Proclamation came into operation
and took effect on the second day of December, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven:
And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the thirtieth day of November,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, the
Governor, in pursuance of the said recited power and
authority, did amongst others constitute districts
for the purposes of the said Act called the "Wai-
kouaiti" and "Hamilton" Districts, the boundaries
whereof were therein set forth, which said Proclama-
tion came into operation and took effect on the first
day of February, one thousand eight hundred and
sixty-six:
And whereas it is expedient to revoke so much of
the said Proclamations as relates to the said districts,
and to divide anew the territory formerly comprised
within such districts:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by
the said recited Act, do hereby revoke the said
Proclamations so far as relates to the said districts,
and do proclaim and declare that the territory
formerly comprised within such districts shall be
and is hereby divided, for the purposes of the said
Act, into five districts, the names and boundaries
whereof shall be as follows:-
BLUE SPUR DISTRICT
Comprises all that area bounded by a line commencing
at a point in the road line along the north-western
watershed of Monro's Gully, bearing due east from
Trigonometrical Station E, Tuapeka East Survey Dis-
trict, and proceeding thence in an Easterly direction
to the road line along the south-eastern watershed of
the said Monro's Gully; thence in a South-westerly
direction along the said road line to the south
boundary of Block XVIII., Tuapeka East Survey
District aforesaid; thence in a Westerly direction
along the said boundary to a point due south of
Trigonometrical Station E aforesaid; thence in a
Northerly direction to the road line first above men-
tioned; thence in a North-easterly direction along the
said road line to the starting point.
