TENDERS for Binding Gazettes, Books, and other
Documents for the Government during the
twelve calendar months commencing the 1st April
next, will be received at this Office until noon of
Friday, the 24th instant. A bond-the contractor
in the sum of Β£250, and two approved sureties Β£250
each-for the due performance of the contract will
be required to be entered into within a month of the
acceptance of the contract.
The Tenders should specify the price per volume
for the following books, namely:-
Demy folio books, four quires and under:-Half-
bound, rough calf, cloth sides, gilt lettered on
back, short title and date.
For every additional quire.
Foolscap folio books, ditto:--Half-bound, calf, cloth
sides, gilt lettered on back, short title and date.
For every additional quire.
Ditto, ditto:-Half-bound, calf, marble paper sides,
gilt lettered on back, short title and date.
For every additional quire.
Demy 4to books, four quires:-Ditto, ditto.
For every additional quire.
Demy 8vo:-In half-bound calf, cloth sides, gilt
lettered on back, at per volume of four quires.
For every additional quire.
Ditto:-Full bound, cloth boards, at per volume of
four quires.
For every additional quire.
Parliamentary Debates:-Royal 8vo, cold pressing
and binding in half-calf, cloth sides, double
lettered on back, at per volume of four quires.
For every additional quire.
Ditto, ditto, Cold-pressing and binding in cloth, at
per volume of four quires.
For every additional quire.
Pamphlets-Royal, Demy, or Foolscap 8vo:-Fold-
ing, stitching, covering, and cutting, at per
sheet of eight pages.
Cold-pressing and binding in blue paper covers :-
Statutes, Journals, and Appendix of General
Assembly, at per quire.
Folding, stitching, and cutting Parliamentary Papers
(eight pages or under), at per hundred.
For every additional sheet.
Gazettes:-Folding and enveloping (eight pages or
under), at per hundred.
For every additional sheet.

willing to contract for the Carting required by the
General Government at Wellington, for the twelve
months commencing the 1st April next, between
8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Tenders should specify the
price-
1st. At per day of eight working hours.
2nd. From the Queen's Wharf, or from any part
of Te Aro within half a mile of the Post Office,
to any of the General Government Offices
within half a mile of the General Assembly
Buildings at Thorndon, and vice versa, at per
load.
3rd. Between Rhodes' Wharf and the Magazine,
and vice versa, at per load.
4th. Between the Queen's Wharf and Mount
Cook Barracks, and vice versa, at per load.
5th. From the Telegraph Office or Post Office to
the Queen's Wharf, and vice versa, at per load.

ing the Offices of the General Government with
seasoned Firewood (Rata or Manuka), in one or
two feet lengths, cut and split, at per cord, in such
quantities as may be required, for the twelve months
commencing 1st of April next; to be delivered at
the Public Offices, and stacked on delivery if required.

Coal, in such quantities as may be required, for the

rates per ton to be specified for best English Coal,
screened and delivered at the Public Offices in 1 cwt.
bags; for the best Newcastle, N.S.W., Coal, screened
and delivered at the Public Offices in 1 cwt. bags;
and for best New Zealand Coal, screened and de-
livered at the Public Offices in 1 cwt. bags.

HIS Excellency the Governor in Council has been
pleased to appoint
The Hon. THEODORE MINET HAULTAIN and
JAMES TOWNSEND EDWARDS, Esq.,
to be Commissioners "to examine and report on all
claims which shall from time to time be referred to
them, the said Theodore Minet Haultain and James
Townsend Edwards, by the Colonial Secretary, of all
persons who, being members of the Colonial Forces
or being friendly Natives, have been or are alleged
to have been, during the various military operations
in New Zealand in the years 1845, 1846, and 1847,
and from the year 1860 to the year 1866 inclusive,
also since the year 1866, actually under fire in any
engagement with the enemy, or have been or are
alleged to have been otherwise conspicuous for dis-
tinguished service in the field, and who have not,
since the time in which they were so under fire or
conspicuous for distinguished services as aforesaid,
done any act or thing unworthy of a soldier; and to
report the names of all such persons as aforesaid,
specifying those who are entitled to receive the said
New Zealand War Medal."
"To inquire and ascertain the names (in full), rank,
regiments or corps, of such persons as aforesaid who
were killed in action, or died from wounds received
during any of the military operations above referred
to; and also the names and dates of the actions or
services in which, or in consequence of wounds
received at which, such persons as aforesaid died."
All persons who have claims for the Medal and
have not made application for it, are requested to
apply, with as little delay as possible, to the Hon.
the Minister for Colonial Defence, as the Commis-
sioners are required to report within four calendar
months from the 3rd February, 1871.
