ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
third day of February, 1871.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The University Endowment Act,
1868," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor in Council at any time, and from time
to time, after communication with the Superintendent
of any Province, to except from sale and reserve any
of the Waste Lands of the Crown for the purposes
in the said Act mentioned, and that all such excep-
tions and reservations of land situate within any
Province shall be deemed to have been made when-
ever the Governor, by writing under his hand, shall
have notified to the Superintendent of the Province
in which any land so excepted and reserved is situate,
that the same is required for the purposes of the
said Act, and such notifications shall have been pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette : Provided that
the maximum quantity shall not exceed in any Pro-
vince ten thousand (10,000) acres:

And whereas His Excellency the Governor has
communicated with the Superintendent of the Pro-
vince of Auckland with respect to the making the
reserve hereinafter mentioned:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
New Zealand, in exercise and in pursuance of the
power and authority conferred on him by the said
Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of New Zealand, doth hereby
except from sale and reserve for the purposes men-
tioned in the said Act, that portion of the Waste
Lands of the Crown in the Province of Auckland
hereinafter described, that is to say,-

All that parcel of land in the Province of Auckland,
containing by admeasurement three hundred and
fifty-four (354) acres, more or less, situated in the
Parish of Ararimu, in the County of Eden, and being
allotment numbered seven and northern portion of
allotment numbered five, bounded on the North-east
by a road three thousand one hundred and eighty-
nine links, two thousand two hundred and eighty-
three links, and two thousand nine hundred and fifty
links; on the South by other portion of allotment
numbered five, three thousand five hundred links and
one thousand six hundred and twenty-five links, and
by allotment numbered six, nine hundred links and
five thousand five hundred and fifty links; on the
South-west by a road two hundred links, three hun-
dred and thirty-nine links, two hundred and thirty
links, five hundred and eighteen links, three hundred
nine hundred and seventy-one links, two hundred

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING:

WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elections Act,
1870," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor, by Warrant under his hand, from time
to time to appoint Polling Places for each Electoral
District, within or within one mile of the limits
thereof, and to appoint any one of such Polling
Places to be the Principal Polling Place for the
district, and all or any of such Polling Places from
time to time to abolish, and, if he think fit, to appoint
other Polling Places in lieu of those abolished, and
that every such Warrant shall be published in the
New Zealand Gazette : Provided always that no
Polling Place shall be appointed by the Governor
under the said Act unless he shall be first satisfied
that the place to be appointed is more convenient
than any other for at least twenty electors to record
their votes thereat:

And whereas by Warrants under the hand of the
Governor, certain places were appointed Polling
Places and Principal Polling Places for the Province
of Otago, for the election of Members of the Pro-
vincial Council of the said Province:

And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same:

Now know ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of
the power and authority in me vested by the said
Act, do hereby abolish the above-named Polling
Places and Principal Polling Places for the said Pro-
vince for the election of Members of the Provincial
Council thereof, and do appoint in lieu thereof :-

For the District of City of Dunedin-
The Government Buildings, Dunedin.
The North Dunedin School House.

For the District of North Harbour-
The School House, North-East Valley.
The Court House, Port Chalmers.

For the District of Wakari-
The Drill Shed, Kaikorai.

For the District of Kaikorai-
The School House, Green Island.
The School House, Kaikorai.

For the District of Caversham-
The School House, Caversham.
The School House, Mornington.

For the District of Peninsula-
The School House, Anderson's Bay.
The School House, North-East Harbour.
The School House, Portobello.

For the District of Port Chalmers-
The Court House, Port Chalmers.

For the District of Blueskin-
The School House, Blueskin.
