ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Auckland, this
twenty-fourth day of January, 1870.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHERAS by "The Merchant Shipping Acts
Adoption Act, 1869," it is enacted that
various books, instruments, and papers required to
be used under the said Act, or the provisions of the
Acts thereby adopted, shall be supplied at the
Custom Houses or Mercantile Marine Offices in
New Zealand, at such moderate prices as the
Governor in Council may from time to time fix:
And whereas by the said "Merchant Shipping Acts
Adoption Act, 1869," it is further enacted that in
case any Seaman shall be unable to produce a Certi-
ficate of Discharge from his last ship, it shall be
lawful for the Superintendent of any Mercantile
Marine Office, or any Officer of Customs, on being
satisfied of the fact of such inability, and upon pay-
ment of such fee as may be fixed by the Governor in
Council, to grant to such Seaman a permit to engage
himself in any foreign-going ship; or if any Seaman
shall prove to the satisfaction of such Officer that,
without any fault of his own, he has lost or been
deprived of his Certificate of Discharge, such Officer
may grant a permit as aforesaid to ship in any home-
trade ship: And whereas it is expedient to fix the
prices aforesaid, and the amount of the said fee :--
Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir George
Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in exercise of the authority in him
vested by the said recited Act, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony, doth hereby fix the prices mentioned in the
table following as the prices for such books, instru-
ments, and papers as aforesaid, that is to say :

And in further exercise of the said authority, His
Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice
and consent of the aforesaid Council, doth hereby
fix Five Shillings as the fee to be paid before the
grant of such permit as is in the said recited Act
mentioned.

WHERAS by "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," it
is amongst other things enacted that it shall
be lawful for the Governor, by Order in Council,
from time to time to constitute for any Gold Field,
or for any part thereof, Wardens' Courts for the
administration of justice therein, and to appoint
Wardens of such Courts, with power to act alone or
with assessors, and in such manner, and to exercise
all or any of the powers thereinafter mentioned, as
the Governor shall think fit to direct:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, doth hereby, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in
him for this purpose, appoint
CALEB WHITEFOORD
to be a Warden of all Wardens' Courts now con-
stituted or hereafter to be constituted within the
Nelson South-west Gold Fields, with power to him
to act alone or with assessors, and to exercise all or
any of the powers vested in or imposed on Judges
of Wardens' Courts.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Auckland, this
seventh day of January, 1870.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise of the powers vested in the Governor
by "The Native Reserves Act, 1856," and "The
Native Reserves Amendment Act, 1862," the Gover-
nor, with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, doth order that the land
hereinafter described—that is to say: All that
parcel of land containing by admeasurement one (1)
acre three (3) roods and sixteen (16) perches, be the
same more or less, situated in the City of Nelson,
being sections two hundred and sixty-six (266) and
two hundred and sixty-nine (269) on the plan of the
said city; bounded on the North by land granted to
Joseph McArtney, and by land granted to Francis
Dillon Bell, five hundred (500) links, and by the
said land granted to Francis Dillon Bell, one hundred
(100) links; towards the North-east by the said
land granted to Francis Dillon Bell, five hundred
and thirty-eight (538) links; towards the South by
Weka Street, eight hundred (800) links; and
towards the West by section two hundred and sixty-
three (263) on the said plan, two hundred (200)
links, and by the aforesaid land granted to Francis
Dillon Bell, three hundred (300) links: Excepting
the North Road, seventy-five (75) links in width,
which intersects the said section two hundred and
sixty-six (266); part of a Native Reserve, being
land subject to the operation of the said Acts—shall
be granted to Herbert Evelyn Curtis and Oswald
Curtis, of Nelson aforesaid, merchants, in exchange
for the town acre numbered nine hundred and forty-
six (946) on the plan of the said City of Nelson,
and in consideration of the sum of fifty-five (55)
pounds paid and to be paid by them for equality of
exchange.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority in me vested in this behalf by the
Regulations for the sale and disposal of Waste
Lands in the County of Westland, I hereby reserve
the lands in the said County of Westland, the
boundaries whereof are described in the Schedule
hereunto annexed, for the uses of the Colonial
Government, and other public purposes, as in the
said Schedule is more particularly specified.
