THE following Notices to Mariners, received from
the Chief Harbour Master of Auckland, and
from the Portmaster of Brisbane, are published for
general information.

Alteration of Tararu Light, Firth of Thames.

NOTICE is hereby given, that, on and after the 1st
December next, the above-mentioned light will be
removed from its present position to the outer end of
Tararu Wharf, where it will be exhibited from a
lamp-post instead of a tower, and will show the same
as the present light, except the bearing for the inner
anchorage, which will now be N.N.W. W., instead
of N. by W.

Note.—The Wharf runs out in South-west direc-
tion thirteen hundred (1300) feet from Tararu Point;
has six (6) feet water at its outer end at low spring
tides.

MR. DOUGLAS, the Government Resident at the
Northern Territory of South Australia, reports
having discovered, on his passage northwards from

Brisbane, in the "Gulnare," a small reef, which he
called "Marsh Reef," to the southward of the h.h.
Group.

The reef was awash, and about one cable in extent,
lying north and south. From it, h 1 Island bore N.
by E., and h. Peak N.E.E., the approximate posi-
tion being lat. 21 deg. 42 min. 20 sec. S., long. 149
deg. 48 min. 25 sec. E.

NOTICE TO TENDERERS.

THE Time for Completing the Public Offices at
Wellington is Extended to the fifteenth day of
May, 1871, and the penalty for non-completion in-
creased from £50 to £100 per week.

the new Government House at Wellington.
General Conditions and Specifications may be seen
at the Offices of the Colonial Architect, Wellington;

Tenders will be received by the undersigned up to
Noon on Monday, the twelfth day of December
next. The lowest or any Tender not necessarily
accepted.

Noon on Thursday, the first day of December next.
The lowest or any Tender not necessarily accepted.

NOTICE is hereby given, that James Munro
Bertram, of Wangaehu, in the Province of
Wellington and Colony of New Zealand, Farmer, did,
on the fourteenth day of November, 1870, make
application to His Excellency the Governor for the
grant to him of Letters Patent, under the provisions
of "The Patents Act, 1860," for an invention of a
new method for preparing Native Flax (Phormium
tenax), by the combination of a number of simple
mechanical processes, successively applied in the
order enumerated in the specifications. Any person
who may wish to prefer any objection to the granting
of such Letters Patent is hereby required to send,
within four months of the publication of this notice,
to the office or address of John Boyle Bennett, Esq.,
Registrar-General, at Wellington, a statement in
writing, setting forth the grounds of such objection,
subscribed with his proper name and address.
