DISCONTINUANCE OF MARRYATT'S CODE OF SIGNALS
AT GOVERNMENT SIGNAL STATIONS.

NOTICE is hereby given, that on and after the
1st January, 1871, the use of Marryatt's Code
of Signals will be discontinued at the Government
Signal Stations in this Colony; all communications
from Signal Stations and Lighthouses will thence-
forward be made by the Commercial Code.

Superintendent of Auckland, is published for
general information.

DIRECTIONS FOR CROSSING HOKIANGA BAR.
[Extract from a Notice to Mariners published in the New
Zealand Gazette, No. 37, of 5th July, 1867, page 282.]
"In consequence of the channel over Hokianga
Bar having shifted a little to the Southward, two
wooden beacons have been erected in Martin's Bay
(painted white), which must be kept in line bearing
N.E. by E.E., and which will lead over the deepest
part of the bar.
"WILLIAM WELLS,
"Pilot and Harbour Master, Hokianga."

SINCE the publication of the above Notice, the
channel has been working Northward, and is now
nearly back to its former position as marked in the
Admiralty chart. The directions for crossing the
bar now (with a depth of eighteen feet at low water)
will be, to keep northward of the line of beacons,
with the upper beacon nearly open of the lower
beacon, bringing both in line when over the bar and
approaching the South Head.

extinguished over the block of land whereof the
boundaries are described and the name given in the
Schedule hereto.

PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND, DISTRICT OF WHANGAREI, β€”
OTAKAIRANGI BLOCK.

Boundaries.

Commencing on the Wairua River at the con-
fluence of the Paparata Creek, runs inland in a
westerly direction on the north side of the Purua
and Karewarewa Hills, to Oniau; hence northerly to
the swamp to Motu-uta; hence easterly in the
swamp to Te Tungutu on the Okarika River, and
down the Okarika to its confluence with the Wairua;
hence southerly down the Wairua to the point of
commencement at Paparata.

IN the matter of "The Friendly Societies Act,
1867," notice is hereby given that a transcript of
the Bye-laws of
"The Loyal Alexandra Lodge, No. 5,732, of the
Otago District, Manchester Unity, Indepen-
dent Order of Odd Fellows, Port Molyneux,
Friendly Society,"
duly certified, has been lodged with the Registrar
of Friendly Societies, registered and recorded in his
Office under the provisions of "The Friendly
Societies Act, 1867."

Deaths, and Marriages in New Zealand, do hereby
certify that the foregoing NAMES of OFFICIATING
MINISTERS, within the meaning of "The Marriage
Act, 1854," have been sent in to me in addition to
the names in Lists published in the New Zealand
Gazette, No. 6, of the 29th of January; No 7, of
the 5th of February; No. 13, of the 12th of March;
No. 21, of the 20th of April; No. 23, of the 4th
of May; No. 24, of the 12th of May; No. 26, of
the 26th of May; No. 29, of the 8th of June; No. 35,
of the 30th of June; No. 36, of the 7th of July; and
No. 40, of the 27th of July, in the present year.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
seventeenth day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy.

hitherto existing between William Samson and
Hugh Fraser, under the designation of "Samson,
