THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
I, DAVID LEWIS, a Commissioner duly appointed by virtue of the Ordinance, No. 15, Session XI., of
the Legislative Council of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and decide Claims to Land by persons
claiming Title thereto from, through, or under the New Zealand Company, report that the Claims of the
under-mentioned persons having been duly referred to me for investigation, I do hereby decide that the
said persons are respectively entitled to Crown Grants of the land set against their names in the annexed
Schedule.

Charles Beard Izard, Sections Nos. 486, 558, 560, and 562 on the plan of the
Executors under the Will City of Wellington. Also the Grants of the Rural Sections
of George Samuel Evans Nos. 2 and 3 Horokiwi Road, No. 92 Ohariu, and No.
deceased. 109 Upper Hutt District. The Grants to issue under
the provisions of "The Crown Grant Act, 1866," in the
name of George Samuel Evans. The Legal Estate to be
antevested in the Grantee as from the 28th September,
1866.
1503 1714 Mary Ann Morford and Are entitled to receive Crown Grants to be issued in accordance
Thomas Cobb, Executors with the provisions of "The Crown Grants Act, 1866," in
under the Will of William the name of William Morford, of the Section No. 501 on
Morford, deceased the plan of the City of Wellington, and of Rural Section
No. 21, Tukapu District. The Legal Estate to be antevested
in the Grantee as from the 11th August, 1840. Subject
to a direction of the Commissioner.
1504 1411 Robert Sutcliffe ... ... Entitled to Crown Grants of the Sections Nos. 1044, 1055, and
1060 on the plan of the City of Wellington. The Legal
Estate to be antevested in the Grantee as from the 31st
January, 1859.
1505 1652 William Briggs ... ... Entitled to a Crown Grant of the Section No. 1031 on the
plan of the City of Wellington. The Legal Estate to be
antevested in the Grantee, as from the 13th August, 1840.
1506 1651 William Edleston ... ... Entitled to a Crown Grant of the Section No. 1030 on the
plan of the City of Wellington. The Legal Estate to be
antevested in the Grantee as from the 7th November,
1840. Subject to a direction of the Commissioner.
NOTICE is hereby given, that an application was
made on the eleventh day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy, to His Excellency the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by William
Nelson, of West Clive, in the Province of Hawke's
Bay and Colony aforesaid, Flax Manufacturer, for
the grant to him of Letters Patent, under the Seal
of the said Colony, for the exclusive use, enjoyment,
and advantage therein of a new Invention for the
preparation of Phormium tenax, or New Zealand
Flax, by which means the disintegration, softening,
and bleaching of the fibre (after the flax having
passed through Price's Flax Machine or other
machine of a like nature) is more perfectly effected.
And notice is hereby further given, that any person
who may wish to prefer any objection to the granting
of the said Letters Patent, is hereby required, within
four calendar months from the publication hereof, to
send to or deliver at the office of John Boyle Bennett,
Esquire, Registrar-General, Wellington, (being the
person appointed for that purpose under the pro-
visions of "The Patents Act, 1860,") a statement in
writing setting forth the grounds of such objections,
and subscribed with the proper name and address of
the person so objecting.
Dated this eleventh day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership
Firm of "F. and F. Pavitt and Co.," Flax-
dressers, has this day been dissolved by mutual
consent, so far as regards Francis Pavitt. The
liabilities of the firm will be discharged by the other
members thereof. Dated this 30th day of June,
1870.
