IN accordance with the provisions of clause 22 of
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," the Deputy
Superintendent of Wellington begs to intimate to
His Excellency the Governor, that he does not
dissent to the Petition of certain Inhabitants of the
City of Wellington, praying that the district com-
prised within its boundaries shall be proclaimed a
Borough under the above-mentioned Act.

IT is hereby notified, that the Ports of Bluff Harbour
and Riverton, in the Province of Southland, have
by Special License been constituted Ports from whence
Gold may be exported from the Colony, under the
provisions contained in the Proclamation issued on
the 26th January, 1860.

GEORGE PHILPOTT, late a Private in the 3rd
Waikato Regiment, and attached to the Com-
missariat Transport Corps, deceased.

Under the provisions of "The Public Payments
without Probate Act, 1869," and the Regulations
made thereunder, published in the New Zealand
Gazette of 1870, page 212, the Colonial Treasurer
intends to make a payment of money due to the
above-named deceased, to a person not being his legal
representative. All persons objecting to such pay-
ment being made must give notice to the Colonial
Treasurer, at Wellington, within one calendar month
from the date of the Gazette containing this notice,
when their objections will be considered.

Office of the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies,
Auckland, 4th July, 1870.

I, JOHN MUIR WAYLAND, Registrar of Joint
Stock Companies for the Provinces of Auckland
and Hawke's Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby notify that I have registered a Memorandum
of Association, with Articles of Association, estab-
lishing a Company, with limited liability of the
shareholders therein, intituled

"The Auckland and Fiji Cotton Company,
Limited,"

The objects for which the Company is established
are-"1. For the purchase of about 10,000 acres of
land from Mr. John Rennie, being about one-half of
that block known by the name of Na Lovo, situated
at Nandi Bay, Nandroga, Viti Levu, in the Fiji
Islands, conveyed to him in the usual manner from
the Native Chiefs, by deed bearing date 14th day of
March, 1870; and for obtaining from the said John
Rennie the assignment of his interest to all that
piece of land situated at Nandi Bay, Viti Levu, in
the Fiji Islands aforesaid, containing about 10 acres,
held by him under lease from Messrs. Luks and
Redesdale for a term of ten years; together with the
ginning plant and buildings erected thereon, as at
present in use. 2. For the acquirement, by purchase
or otherwise, of any other lands; and for the purchase
and erection of all buildings, machinery, or any other
plant necessary for the operations of the Company.
3. For the purpose of planting and preparing cotton,
sugar, coffee, or other Island products; importing
labour; general trading; acting as Plantation Agents,
and to do all such other things as are incidental or
conducive to the attainment of the above objects."

And that, in pursuance of the provisions of "The
Joint Stock Companies Act, 1860," I have issued a
Certificate of Incorporation of the said Company,
bearing date this fourth day of July, 1870.

I, JOHN MUIR WAYLAND, Registrar of Joint
Stock Companies for the Provinces of Auckland

"The Midnight Gold Mining Company, Limited."

The objects for which the Company is established
are-"The mining on lands granted by lease from
the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland to
the Auckland Consolidated Gold Mining Company,
Limited, or upon any other land within the Thames
Gold Fields that may be acquired by exchange,
purchase, or otherwise; and also the crushing,
smelting, or otherwise reducing the quartz and other
mineral lodes, for the purpose of extracting there-
from the gold, silver, precious stones, or other
minerals that may be found in the same; and also
the employment of all kinds of machinery for effect-
ing the same purpose; and also the sale of all or any
part of the said lands, or of the mineral produce of
the same."

And that, in pursuance of the provisions of "The
Joint Stock Companies Act, 1860," I have issued a
Certificate of Incorporation of the said Company,
bearing date this thirtieth day of June, 1870.
