ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
second day of July, 1870.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Lunatics Act, 1868," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council, from time to time, to order
and direct that all or any of the powers, functions,
duties, and authorities vested in or required to be
performed by the Governor, or the Governor in
Council, or the Colonial Secretary, by the said Act,
within any Province or other District of the Colony,
shall be exercised or performed by the Superinten-
dent of any such Province, or by any other person
the Governor may think fit:
Now therefore, His Excellency Sir George Fergu-
son Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Colony, in pursuance and in exercise of the
power and authority for that purpose vested in him,
doth hereby order and direct that all the powers,
functions, duties, and authorities vested in or
required to be performed by the Governor, or the
Governor in Council, or the Colonial Secretary, by
"The Lunatics Act, 1868," within the Province of
Canterbury, shall be exercised by the Deputy Super-
intendent of such Province (but only during the
absence of the Superintendent of the said Province
therefrom, and during any vacancy in the office of
the Superintendent of the said Province arising by
death or resignation, and only so long as the said
Deputy Superintendent shall hold the office).

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

sixth day of July, 1870.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Government Annuities Act,
1869," it is enacted that it shall and may be
lawful for the Governor in Council, from time to
time as he shall think fit, to direct such tables as shall
from time to time be authorized and approved of by
him to be used and adopted for determining the value
of all Annuities, of whatsoever kind, which may be
granted according to the provisions of the said Act;
as well as tables for payment of sums of money at
death and otherwise: And further, that it shall be
lawful for the Governor in Council to alter all or any
of the said tables from time to time, and to direct the
use and adoption of such other tables in lieu thereof
as shall be approved of by the Governor in Council;
and also from time to time to make any rules and
regulations for carrying the said Act into effect:
And whereas by an Order in Council, bearing date
the twenty-fourth day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy, made under the provisions of
the said Act, certain tables for payment of sums of
money at death, set forth in the Schedule to the said
Order in Council, were approved; and whereas it is
expedient to make a certain alteration in the said
tables:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise and pursuance of the power and authority
vested in me by the said Act, and by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Colony, do hereby direct that the tables
numbered I. and II. in the Schedule to the said
recited Order in Council shall be altered by insert-
ing at the foot of each of the said tables a condition
in the words following:-"When the person desiring
to insure his life is an officiating minister within the
meaning of 'The Marriage Act, 1854,' or any Act
for the time being in force amending the said Act, the
premium or other payment to be paid thenceforth
by such person, whether he shall thereafter cease to
be such officiating minister or not, shall be such sum
consisting of an integral number of pence as shall be
nearest to nineteen-twentieths of the sum which
would be required to be paid by such person if not
an officiating minister as aforesaid:" And I do hereby,
by and with the advice and consent aforesaid, declare
the said conditions to be a regulation for carrying the
said Act into effect, and do make the same a regula-
tion accordingly.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in
me by "The Weights and Measures Act, 1868,"
I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, G.C.M.G., the
Governor of New Zealand, do hereby direct that the
authorized copies of the Standard Weights and
Measures issued and to be issued under the pro-
visions of the said Act to the Inspector of Weights
and Measures for the District named in the first
column of the Schedule hereunder written, shall be
kept therein at the place of deposit named in the
second column of the said Schedule, in the building
the description whereof is set forth in the third column
to the said Schedule.
