A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Petty Sessions Act, 1865,"
it is enacted that, as soon as conveniently
may be after the establishment of a Petty Sessions
District, and afterwards from time to time as may be
deemed expedient, the Governor shall, by Proclama-
tion in the New Zealand Gazette, appoint a meeting
of the Justices of the Peace resident in such district
to be yearly held within such district, at some
specified time and place, for the purpose of choosing
a Chairman of Petty Sessions and settling a rota of
attendance: And whereas by an Order in Council
bearing date the twenty-second day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, certain
Petty Sessions Districts, including amongst others
the district hereinafter named, were defined and
established:
Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and in
exercise of the power and authority in that behalf
vested in me, do hereby proclaim and appoint that
for the district named in the Schedule hereto, a
meeting of the Justices of the Peace resident within
such district shall be yearly held at the place whereof
the name is in the said Schedule set opposite to the
name of such district, at twelve o'clock noon, on the
last Friday in the month of July, for the purpose of
choosing a Chairman and settling a rota of attendance.

Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony this first day
of July in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The New Zea-
land Post Office Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall
be lawful for the Governor in Council from time
to time, by Proclamation to be published in the New
Zealand Gazette, to fix, alter, and abolish the Rates
of Postage at any time payable within the Colony
for the transmission of Letters by post, either between
places within New Zealand, or to or from places
beyond seas, and at what time the same shall be paid,
and that the Postage so made payable shall be charged
and paid accordingly: And whereas by a Procla-
mation duly made and issued, bearing date the sixth
day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
seven, the Governor in Council did, in pursuance of
the said recited power and authority, fix certain
Rates of Postage, and the times at which the same
respectively should be paid: And whereas it is
desirable to alter the Rates of Postage chargeable
under Schedule D, appended to the said Procla-
mation of the sixth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-seven, on Letters to the Colony of
Western Australia:
Now therefore, in exercise of the said recited
power and authority, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council
thereof, do hereby alter the present Rates of Postage
fixed to be paid within the Colony for the trans-
mission of Letters to the Colony of Western Aus-
tralia, and do proclaim and declare that the Postage
payable within the Colony on Letters for the Colony
of Western Australia shall be according to the
Schedule hereunder written, and that such Postage
shall in all cases be paid at the time such Letters are
delivered into the post in New Zealand; and I
do further declare that this Proclamation shall take
effect on and after the fifteenth day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy.
