A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Petty Sessions Act, 1865,"
it is enacted that, as soon as conveniently may
be after the establishment of a Petty Sessions
District, and afterwards from time to time as may be
deemed expedient, the Governor shall, by Proclama-
tion in the New Zealand Gazette, appoint a meeting
of the Justices of the Peace resident in such district
to be yearly held within such district at some
specified time and place, for the purpose of choosing
a Chairman of Petty Sessions and settling a rota of
attendance: And whereas by an Order in Council
bearing date the twenty-second day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, certain Petty
Sessions Districts, including the district hereinafter
named, were defined and established: And whereas
by a Proclamation bearing date the twenty-fourth day
of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
eight, a certain time and place for the meetings of the
Justices of the Peace resident in the district herein-
after named were proclaimed and appointed: And
whereas it is expedient that the times of meeting
proclaimed and appointed by such Proclamation
should be altered:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and in
exercise of the power and authority in that behalf
vested in me, do hereby proclaim and appoint that,
for the Auckland District, a meeting of the Justices
of the Peace resident within such district shall be
yearly held at the Court House, Auckland, at twelve
o'clock noon, on the fourth Tuesday in the month of
April, for the purpose of choosing a Chairman of
Petty Sessions and settling a rota of attendance.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and
its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same, at the Government House at
Auckland; and issued under the Seal of the
the said Colony, at Wellington, this
nineteenth day of March, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Auckland, this
fourteenth day of March, 1870.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Gold Fields Act Amend-
ment Act, 1868," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor, if and whenever he shall
have, by lease, agreement, or otherwise, by consent
of the Native owners of any land over which the
Native title has been extinguished, or the Native
owners of any land over which the Native title
has not been extinguished, obtained power from
such Native or other owners to authorize entry
on such lands for mining for gold, by Pro-
clamation issued under the third section of "The
Gold Fields Act, 1866," to include such land within
any Gold Field, or to proclaim such land as a Gold
Field: And by the said Act it is further enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council,
under his hand and the Public Seal of the Colony,
from time to time to delegate to the Superintendent
of any Province, or to such other person as the
Governor may deem fit, all or any of the powers
vested in the Governor by the preceding sections of
said Act (including the above-recited sections),
subject or not to any limitations or restrictions as
the Governor may think fit:
Now therefore, His Excellency Sir George Fer-
guson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, with
advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the Colony, in pursuance and exercise of the power
for that purpose vested in him by the said Act, doth
hereby delegate to
