NOTICE. — " Provincial Compulsory Lands Taking
Act, 1866."—Notice is hereby given, that it is
intended to introduce a Bill into the Provincial
Council of the Province of Otago, at its next Session,
authorizing the Superintendent of the Province of
Otago to take compulsorily, for the purpose of com-
pleting a road in the Mornington Road District, a por-
tion of Sections thirteen (13) and fourteen (14), Block
seven (7), on the map of the Town Survey District.
And notice is hereby further given, that a copy of
the Bill so intended to be introduced as aforesaid,
may be inspected at the office of the Clerk of the
said Provincial Council on and after the thirty-first
day of March next ensuing the date hereof.
Dated this twenty-fourth day of February, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy.

first day of March now instant.

PATENTS ACT, 1860.—Notice is hereby given,
that application has been made to His Excel-
lency the Governor, by and on behalf of William
Frederick Mason, of Pakuratahi, in the Province
of Wellington, Blacksmith, for the grant to him
of Letters Patent pursuant to the provisions of "The
Patents Act, 1860," for the exclusive use, within the
Colony of New Zealand, of an Invention for the
purpose of dressing Flax, Phormium tenax, Cabbage-
tree leaf, Nikau leaf, or any other Fibre, also for the
purpose of dressing the bark of the Cabbage-tree or
any other indigenous Plant, and for the purpose
of extracting the Gum from the same, and for the
purpose of cleansing the same.
Any person desirous of entering an objection to
such grant, is required to send, within four months
of the publication hereof, to the office of John Boyle
Bennett, Esquire, the officer appointed to receive the
same, a statement in writing, setting forth clearly the
grounds of such objection, subscribed with his proper
name and address.
Dated at Wellington, the second day of March,

Insurance and Annuities Offices, under "The
Government Annuities Act, 1869," have been opened
at the Chief Post Offices at Auckland, New Plymouth,
Napier, Wellington, Nelson, Blenheim, Christchurch,
Dunedin, and Invercargill, and at the Post Offices at
Hokitika, Greymouth, Westport, and Charleston.
All persons wishing to obtain Annuities, immediate
or deferred, Life Insurances, or other advantages
under the Act, will receive every information and
the necessary forms on application at either of the
above-named offices.
