ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At Wellington, this twentieth day of October, 1869.
Present:
THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER, PRESIDING, AND MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Waste Lands Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in
Council at any time, and from time to time, to except from sale, and either reserve to Her Majesty
or dispose of in such other manner as for the public interest may seem best, such of the Waste Lands of the
Crown in any of the Provinces of the Colony as may be required for the purposes of Military Defence, or
for the construction of Trunk Lines of Road, or as sites for Public Buildings for the use of the General
Government, or for other purposes of public utility or convenience :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, in exercise and in pursuance of the power and authority in that behalf vested in
him, doth hereby except from sale and reserve to Her Majesty the parcel of the Waste Lands of the
Crown particularly specified and described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in the said
Schedule mentioned, and set opposite the description of the said parcel of land.

SCHEDULE.

Description of Reserve. Purpose of Reserve.
PROVINCE OF OTAGO.
Tairoa's Head.
All that parcel of land situated at the extremity of
Tairoa's Head, and bounded towards the West, North, and
East by high water-mark on the sea shore; towards the
South-east by Lot 27, Otago Heads Native Reserve, one
thousand and fifty (1,050) links; towards the North-east by
Lot 33 of the said Native Reserve, two hundred and fifty
(250) links; and again towards the South-east by the said
Lot 33, four hundred and fifty (450) links. Excepting the
rectangular piece of Native land containing about one (1)
acre, situated on the western side of the above described
land. Site for a Lighthouse.

TO JAMES MACANDREW, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the parcel of Waste Lands of the Crown particularly specified and described
in the Schedule hereunder written is required for the purpose mentioned and set opposite to the
description of the said parcel of Land in the said Schedule, and that the same has been excepted from
sale and reserved to Her Majesty by the Order in Council bearing the date mentioned in the second
column of the said Schedule.
