A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Militia Act, 1858," it is
enacted that on the occasions therein mentioned
it shall be lawful for the Governor, or such person as
he shall from time to time, by warrant under his
hand, appoint as his deputy for that purpose, to
direct the Officer Commanding the Militia of any
District, with all convenient speed, to draw out such
Militia Force, and that such Militia shall continue on
actual service so long as, in the opinion of the Gover-
nor, the danger shall render their services necessary:

And whereas, by a warrant under my hand bearing
date the sixth day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-nine, I directed the Officer Commanding the
Wellington Militia District to draw out, for actual
service, the men of the Militia Force in the said
district:

Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act,
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the said Force shall henceforth cease to
be on actual service.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Auckland; and issued under

the Seal of the Colony this seventh day
of October, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS power is vested in the Governor of
New Zealand by Proclamation to declare any
house, building, enclosure, or place to be a Public
Gaol:

Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor, as aforesaid, do hereby declare and
proclaim the following House or Building, that is to
say,

The House or Building on Reserve No. 703, in the
Town of Greymouth, in the County of West-
land, and the enclosed Yard attached thereto, at
present used as a Police Lock-up,
to be a Public Gaol.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Public Seal of the said Colony, at
Wellington, this twelfth day of October, in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-nine.
