or packets on the Public Service.

New Zealand Telegraph,
Wellington, 2nd August, 1869.
NOTICE is hereby given, that in order to facilitate
the use of the Telegraph, and to give persons
opportunities for forwarding telegrams to Auckland,
the Telegraphists in Nelson and Napier have been
instructed to send, on and after 1st September,
notice by wire to all stations when mails are made up
at their respective Post towns for Auckland.
Telegrams received at Nelson or Napier for trans-
mission by post to Auckland will have to bear, in
addition to the tariff rate, the usual postal rate from
Nelson or Napier to Auckland.
The Telegraphist at Auckland has received similar
instructions, and will accept telegrams for Southern
stations, and post them to Nelson or Napier, from
which stations they will be transmitted by wire to
their respective destinations.
The charges on telegrams of the above description
must in every case be prepaid.

PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act
1854," the following name of an Officiating Minister,
within the meaning of the said Act, is published
for general information :-

The Reverend DAVID JOHNSTONE,
I, JOHN B. BENNETT, Registrar-General of Births,
Deaths, and Marriages in New Zealand, do hereby
certify that the foregoing NAME of an OFFICIATING
MINISTER within the meaning of "The Marriage
Act, 1854," has been sent in to me, in addition to
the names in Lists published in the New Zealand
Gazette, No. 4, of the 29th of January; No. 5, of
the 8th of February; No. 15, of the 19th of March;
377.
No. 16, of the 25th of March; No. 18, of the 1st of
April; No. 22, of the 17th of April; No. 23, of the
27th of April; No. 25, of the 13th of May; No.
31, of the 3rd of June; No. 32, of the 11th of June;
No. 34, of the 26th of June; and No. 37, of the 6th
of July, in the present year.*
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
fourth day of August, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-nine.

I, JOHN ELISHA SMITH, Registrar of Joint
Stock Companies for the Province of Welling-
ton, do hereby notify that I have this day registered
a Memorandum of Association, with Articles of
Association annexed, establishing a Company, with
limited liability of the shareholders therein, entitled
"The Port Nicholson Mining Investment Company,
Limited,"
the objects of which Company are expressed to be
"to acquire, by purchase or otherwise, and to work
and to sell mines, land, and claims, and shares and
interests in mines, land, and claims, and shares
and interests in other Companies formed and to be
formed for the purpose of mining for gold, silver,
precious stones and other minerals, and for extract-
ing the same from earth and ores mined by such
Companies, and by other persons or Companies, to
purchase and sell, and to erect and use mining plant
and machinery, and crushing and amalgamating
machinery, and generally to do all such things as are
directly or indirectly incidental to the business of
miners and dealers in mines or mining stock shares
or plant, or are calculated to be conducive to the
attainment of the above objects, or any of them."
And I further notify, that in pursuance of the
provisions of "The Joint Stock Companies Act,
1860," a certificate of incorporation of the said
Company has been duly issued, bearing even date
herewith.

Christchurch, 24th July, 1869.
I, EDWARD DENHAM, Registrar of Joint
Stock Companies for the Province of Canter-
bury, do hereby notify that I have registered a
Memorandum of Association, with Articles of Asso-
ciation affixed, establishing a Company, with limited
liability of the shareholders therein, intituled
"The Canterbury Gold Prospecting Company,
Limited."
The objects for which the Company is established
are, the prospecting for, and discovery of, alluvial
gold fields and auriferous quartz reefs within the
Province of Canterbury, and, if discovered, the
applying for and taking alluvial or quartz reef
claims, and the purchase of any land discovered to be
auriferous, and the working of such claims.
And that, in pursuance of "The Joint Stock Com-
panies Act, 1860," I have issued a certificate of
incorporation of the said Company, bearing date
the 24th day of July, 1869.
