WHEREAS by "The Volunteer Act, 1865," it is
enacted that the Governor may at any time
call out for actual service any Volunteer Corps, and
that every officer and volunteer belonging to any
corps so called out shall remain on actual service
until released by the Governor's authority: And
whereas, by warrants bearing date the thirtieth day
of November, and the fifth day of December, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, the Volun-
teer Corps hereinafter named were amongst others
called out for actual service, and it is expedient to
release them from such service:
Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise
of the power in me vested by the said Act, do hereby
release from actual service every officer and volunteer
belonging to the Volunteer Corps hereinafter named,
that is to say—
Hutt Rifle Volunteers,
Porirua Rifle Volunteers,
Taita Rifle Volunteers,
Wellington Artillery Volunteers,
No. 1 Company Wellington Rifle Volunteers,
Wellington Veteran Volunteers,
Hutt Cavalry Volunteers,
Makara Rifle Volunteers.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority in me vested in this behalf by the
Regulations for the Sale and Disposal of Waste
Lands in the County of Westland, I hereby reserve
the lands in the said County of Westland, the boun-
daries whereof are described in the Schedule here-
unto annexed, for the uses of the Colonial Government
and other public purposes, as in the said Schedule
is more particularly specified.

Arahura District.
Lot number fifty-two (52) (in red) commencing at
the south-western corner of section 1124; thence
southerly along the Mahinapua River, road for a
distance of ten (10) chains; thence easterly at a right
angle to Reserve No. 9 (in red), and northerly along
the boundary of said reserve to the south-east corner
of section 1124, and westerly along the boundary of
said section to the commencing point; containing
seven (7) acres and one (1) rood for Acclimatization
Grounds.
Arahura District.
Lot number fifty-three (53) (in red), bounded on the
Northward by a line opposite to and three (3) chains
distant from the northern boundary of Reserve 52 (in
red), and bearing 111°30′ for a distance of six (6) chains
and twenty (20) links; on the Eastward by a line at
right angles to last boundary for a distance of ten
(10) chains; and on the Southward by a line bearing
111° 30' to the boundary of Reserve No. 9 (in red);
and on the Westward by Reserve No. 9 (in red), con-
taining seven (7) acres, for Acclimatization Grounds.
Hokitika.
Lot fifty-four (54) (in red) situate in Reserve No.
272 (in red) (Hokitika South), bounded on the East-
ward by Pine Creek Road, a distance of three (3)
chains; on the Southward by a line at right angles to
last boundary, a distance of two (2) chains; on the
Westward by a line at right angles to last boundary a
distance of three (3) chains to South Road; and
on the Northward by South Road, containing two (2)
roods and sixteen (16) perches, for the purposes of a
Bridge and Ferry.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Lieutenant-
Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the
Colony of New Zealand, intituled "An Ordinance
for the Regulation of Prisons," Sess. VII., No. 7, the
Governor is empowered from time to time to make
such rules and regulations as to him may seem fit,
touching the duties of the officers of any public gaol,
the classification, diet, instruction, treatment and
correction of the prisoners therein, and generally to
prescribe all such rules as may be necessary for the
good discipline of any public gaol and the safe
custody of the prisoners therein :
And whereas, by a Warrant under the hand of His
Excellency the Governor, bearing date the tenth day
of March ultimo, certain regulations were made for
the Public Gaol at Waitangi, in the Chatham Islands,
and it is expedient to make additional regulations
thereto:
Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under and
by virtue of the provisions of the said Ordinance
contained, do hereby make the following additional
regulations for the said Public Gaol at Waitangi, in
the Chatham Islands.
