NOTICE is hereby given, that an application has
been made to His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand by GEORGE ELEMENT,
Smelter, and MARMADUKE CONSTABLE, Gentleman,
both of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand,
praying for the grant to them, the said George
Element and Marmaduke Constable, of Letters
Patent under the Seal of the said Colony for the
exclusive use, advantage, and enjoyment of a new
Invention of a mode for Extracting Gold, Silver,
Lead, or Copper, from their Matrix; as also to smelt
Iron Sand by the application of Heat, Roasting,
Fluxing, and Smelting, and by the use of various
Desulpherizers and Fluxes. And notice is hereby
given, that any person or persons who may wish to
prefer any objections to the granting of such Letters
Patent is hereby required, within four months of the
publication of this notice, to send to the office of
John Boyle Bennett, Esquire, Registrar-General at
Wellington, in the Province of Wellington, in the said
Colony of New Zealand (being the person appointed
for that purpose under the provisions of "The
Patents Act, 1860"), a statement, in writing, showing
the grounds of such objection, and subscribed with
the proper name and address of the person so
objecting.

NOTICE is hereby given, that an application has
been made to His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by JOHN BOOTH, of
Dunedin, in the Province of Otago, in the said
Colony, Gentleman, for the grant to him, the said
John Booth, of Letters Patent under the Seal of the
said Colony, for the exclusive use, enjoyment, and
advantage within the said Colony of a new Invention
or Improvement for preparing the fibre of the
Phormium Tenax, and other plants indigenous to
New Zealand, by a different and more effectual
process than any of the processes at present in use,
and so as greatly to economize labour and increase
the value of the fibre. And notice is hereby further
given, that any person who may wish to prefer any
objection to the granting of such letters patent is
hereby required, within four calendar months from
the publication of this notice, to send to the office of
John Boyle Bennett, Esq., Registrar-General, at
Wellington, in the Province of Wellington, in
the said Colony of New Zealand (being the person
appointed for that purpose under the provisions of
"The Patents Act, 1860"), a statement in writing
setting forth the grounds of such objection, and

subscribed with the proper name and address of the
person so objecting.

Dated at Dunedin aforesaid, this sixth day of
March, 1869.

NOTICE is hereby given, that I, JAMES MACKAY,
Tertius, of Aldourie, Waimea West, in the
Province of Nelson, and Colony of New Zealand,
Sheep-farmer and Agriculturist, have made applica-
tion to His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
Knight, Governor of the said Colony of New Zealand,
that he will be pleased to grant to me Letters Patent
for the exclusive use of an Invention by me called a
Tubular Lamp, to Burn Tallow without Spirit or
Chemical process, in the raw material or otherwise.
All persons who may wish to prefer any objection to
the granting of such Letters Patent, are hereby
required to send, within four months from the pub-
lication hereof, as aforesaid, to John Boyle Bennett,
Esq., Registrar-General, at Wellington, in the said
Colony, a statement setting forth the grounds of such
objection, and subscribed with their proper name and
address.

I, the undersigned DEXTER BRIGHAM, hereby make
application to register "The Australasian Quartz
Crushing and Mining Company, Registered," under
the provisions of "The Mining Companies Limited
Liability Act, 1865;" and I do solemnly and sincerely
declare that the following statement is, to the best of
my belief and knowledge, true in every particular,
namely:---

  1. The name of the Company is "The Australasian
    Quartz Crushing and Mining Company, Registered."
  2. The place of intended operations is at the
    Thames Gold Field, in the Province of Auckland.
  3. The nominal capital of the Company is four
    thousand five hundred pounds, in thirty shares of one
    hundred and fifty pounds each.
  4. The amount already paid up is nil.
  5. The name of the manager is Dexter Brigham.
  6. The office of the Company is at Fraser's Build-
    ings, Shortland Street, Auckland.
  7. The names and several residences of the share-
    holders, and the number of shares held by each at
