ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirty-first day of December, 1867.

THE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE
COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the seventeenth section of "The
Public Revenues Act, 1867," it is provided
that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council to
direct that any money in the Public Account to the
credit of the Public Trust Fund shall be invested at
interest with any bank or banks, or otherwise upon
such terms and at such interest and for such periods
as the Colonial Treasurer shall think fit:
Now therefore His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of New Zealand, doth hereby direct that the
sum of eighty thousand pounds out of the moneys
to the Public Account to the credit of the
Public Trust Fund shall be invested in such deben-
tures issued under any Act of the General Assembly
as the Colonial Treasurer shall think fit.

WHEREAS by "The Mining Companies Limited
Liability Act, 1865," it is among other things
enacted that the Governor in Council, may from time
to time, appoint in and for each Mining District,
some proper person to be Official Agent in and for
such district, and may require of such person such
security as he shall think fit.
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby
appoint
ANDREW ROBY BLOXAM, Esq., and
JOHN MUNRO, Esq.,
to be Official Agents, subject to the provisions
contained in the said Act, in and for the respective
Mining Districts of County of Westland and Nelson
South-west Gold Fields, and doth hereby require of
the said Andrew Roby Bloxam, and John Munro of
security by bond, with two approved sureties, in fee,
form and to the amount specified in the ScheΔE O

is such that if the said from time to time, so
long as he shall continue and be employed in the said
office, shall duly perform the duties of the said office,
and duly account for and pay over all moneys which
shall come to the possession, or be under the control
of himself or his agents, by reason of or by virtue of
the said office or employment; and shall from time
to time observe and keep all such orders and instruc-
tions as he shall receive from the Governor of New
Zealand for the time being touching the due perform-
ance and execution of the said office; and shall from
time to time, and at all times hereafter, so long as he
shall hold the said office, well and truly, faithfully
and honestly, to the best of his skill and ability,
exercise, obey, discharge, and perform all the duties
thereof, and also all the powers, directions, duties, and
obligations given to, conferred upon, or to be per-
formed and discharged by him under any law for the
time being relating to the said office; and shall, when
thereunto required, deliver up all books, deeds,
orders, and decrees of the Judges of the District
Court or of the Supreme Court, vouchers, and other
papers relating to the said office, and also such com-
mission, warrant, or authority as he hath received
or shall receive from the Governor, to such person
as the Governor shall direct and appoint to receive
the same, then this obligation to be void and of none
effect, or else to remain in full force and virtue :
provided always that no more than the sum of two
hundred and fifty pounds shall be recoverable from
each of them the said sureties by virtue of the above-
written obligation.
