KAIAPOI AWARD.
No. 1.

Four hundred and fifty acres, more or less, in the
Oxford District, bounded on the southward by the
road reserved along the River Eyre and by sections
10304, 9220, 9208, 6498, 5826, 2590, 1084;
on the eastward by sections 6634, 12307, 5373, 8141,
and a line in continuation of the western boundary
of the latter section; and on the westward by section
6706 and a line in continuation of the eastern
boundary thereof; subject to roads.

No. 1.

Fifteen acres, more or less, in the Mandeville Dis-
trict, bounded on the northward by section 3744; on
the westward by the lagoon surrounding the old pa
of Kaiapoi; and on the eastward by the road.

KAIAPOI AWARD.
No. 2.

Twenty acres in the Ashley District, bounded on
the northward by a road and by section 8065; on
the westward by a road; on the eastward and west-
ward by the Rotorua Lagoon; and also on the west-
ward by the North road.

No. 2.

Ten acres situate on an island near the mouth of
the Ashley, bounded on the northward and south-
ward by the road reserved round the said island; on
the eastward by the road on the west side of section
11386; and on the westward by a line parallel to
the eastern boundary so as to contain the above
quantity.

Corps, viz. :-
Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry Cadet Volunteers.
Date of acceptance, 5th May, 1868.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superinten-
dent and Provincial Council of Canterbury,
intituled "The Gibson's Quay Ordinance Amendment
Ordinance, 1867," it is provided that it shall be
lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of
Canterbury to charge and recover wharfage and
tonnage rates on such articles landed upon the parcel
of land known as Gibson's Quay, and upon such
vessels loading, unloading, or refitting at or beside
such parcel of land, or any wharf erected thereon, at
such rates as the Superintendent, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council, shall
from time to time determine.

And whereas by an Act of the General Assembly
intituled "The Marine Act, 1867," it is provided that
the Superintendent of every Province shall, from
time to time, impose and levy rates, dues, and
charges, for the use of docks, wharves, piers, and
jetties, and for the landing of goods, wares, and
merchandise thereat and thereon.

And whereas by an Act of the General Assembly,
intituled "The County of Westland Act, 1867," it is
provided that all powers, which at the time of the
passing of this Act were vested in the Superintendent
of the said Province, either solely or with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Province, shall within the said County become
vested in the Governor, provided that the Governor
in Council may from time to time delegate all or any
of the said powers to such person or persons as he
may think fit.

And whereas by an Order in Council, bearing date
the eighth day of January, 1868, His Excellency Sir
George Grey, Governor of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the Colony, did delegate to me, John Hall, within
the County of Westland, all the powers heretofore of
the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury
exercisable within the district comprised in the said
County :

Now, therefore, I, the said John Hall, by virtue of
the powers delegated to me as aforesaid, and of all
other powers enabling me in that behalf, do order
and appoint that on and after the 1st day of July,
1868, the rates specified in the Schedule hereto
annexed shall be charged on all vessels arriving
at the Port of Hokitika; or loading, unloading, or
refitting at or beside such parcel of land or wharf
known as Gibson's Quay aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

  1. On all sailing vessels, foreign, intercolonial,
    or coastwise, from ports beyond the limits
    comprised between Cape Farewell and Milford
    Sound, -One shilling per ton register per
    trip.

  2. On all coasting steamers, including those
    coming from ports within the above bound-
    aries, -Threepence per ton per trip.
