be lawful for the Governor in Council, from time to
time, and as occasion may require, to appoint for
each Province in the Colony a fit and proper person
to act as Curator of Estates of Deceased Persons, and
in like manner to remove such Curator or any suc-
cessor in office of such Curator. And whereas by
"The Intestate Estates Act Amendment Act, 1866,"
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor
by proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette
from time to time to divide the Colony for the pur-
poses of the said "Intestate Estates Act, 1865," and
the said "Intestate Estates Act Amendment Act,
1866," into such and so many districts as he shall
think fit, and every such district shall be called by a
distinct name, and shall be a Curator's District, and
in like manner from time to time and as he shall
think fit, to abolish any such district, or alter or vary
the boundaries of any district, or increase the number
of such districts, provided that the Provinces of
the Colony for which Curators have before the passing
of the last-mentioned Act been appointed, shall be
deemed to be districts defined pursuant to that Act,
subject in every respect for the purposes of "The
Intestate Estates Act, 1865," and "The Intestate
Estates Act Amendment Act, 1866," to be abolished
or to be varied or altered as if defined under the
said last-mentioned Act, and the term "Province,"
wherever used in the said "Intestate Estates Act,
1865," shall mean "Curator's District," and the
Curators appointed for such Provinces shall be deemed
to have been appointed under and pursuant to the
said "Intestate Estates Act Amendment Act, 1866."
And whereas by an Order in Council bearing date
the ninth day of May, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-six, Robert Pollock, Esquire, of Nelson, was
appointed to act as Curator of Estates of Deceased
Persons in and for the Province of Nelson: And
whereas it is expedient to include the Province of
Marlborough in the district to which the said Robert
Pollock hath been appointed as aforesaid. Now,
therefore I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise
of the power in me vested for this purpose, do hereby
appoint that the Provinces of Nelson and Marlborough
shall form one district for the purposes of the said
Acts, and be called the District of Nelson and Marl-
borough, and that the said Robert Pollock, shall, for
the purposes of the said Acts, be Curator of Estates
of Deceased Persons in and for the said District of
Nelson and Marlborough.

and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, at the
Government House, at Wellington, and
issued under the Seal of the said Colony

of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-seven.

IN pursuance of the power vested in me by the
eleventh section of "The Marine Act, 1866,"
I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby direct that the distinguish-
ing Flag to be carried at the mast or mainmast
head of vessels whose masters hold a certificate of
exemption from pilotage while entering any port to
which that certificate applies shall be a White Flag
not less than six feet long and four feet broad.

IN pursuance of instructions in this behalf received
by me from Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of
State for the Colonies, I, Sir George Grey, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint that all vessels belonging to or permanently
in the service of the Colony, but not commissioned
as vessels of war under "The Colonial Naval Defence
Act, 1865," of the Imperial Parliament, shall bear a
Blue Ensign with the following badge in the fly
thereof, namely: -The letters "N. Z." in red, each
letter to extend over an area of not less than eight
inches high by eight inches broad, and to have its
lines not less than two inches broad, and surrounded
by a margin of white not less than one inch in
breadth, thus making the letters ten inches high over
all, and four inches broad in the lines over all. -These
dimensions are for a ten foot ensign, and are to vary
in proportion with the dimensions of a larger or
smaller flag.

Governor, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this tenth day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
seven.
