A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Order in Council made on the
twenty-fifth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-one, the Province of Southland
was constituted and established under "The New
Provinces Act, 1858," and it is provided by the
Constitution Act, that it shall be lawful for the
Governor of New Zealand, by proclamation or other-
wise, to dissolve the Provincial Council of any Pro-
vince, whenever he shall think it expedient so to do:
Now therefore, I, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in exercise of the said power, do, by
this proclamation, dissolve the Provincial Council of
the said Province of Southland.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Grey, Knight Commander of
the Most Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and
issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at Wellington, this sixth day of
July, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.
