A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act made and enacted in the
Imperial Parliament holden in the fifteenth
and sixteenth years of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, intituled "An Act to grant a
Representative Constitution to the Colony of New
Zealand," it is amongst other things enacted, that
whenever any Bill shall have been assented to by the
Superintendent, as in the said Act provided, the
Superintendent shall forthwith transmit to the
Governor an authentic copy thereof, and it shall be
lawful for the Governor, at any time within three
months after any such Bill shall have been received
by him, to declare by proclamation his disallowance
of such Bill; and that any such disallowance shall
make void and annul the same from and after the
day of the date of such proclamation, or any subse-
quent day to be named therein.

And whereas the Ordinances hereinafter specified
have been enacted by the Superintendent of Welling-
ton, with the advice and consent of the Provincial
Council thereof, and the said Ordinances were
received by the Governor on the seventeenth day of
June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven:

And whereas it is expedient that the said Ordi-
nances should be disallowed:

Now therefore, I, the Governor of New Zealand,
in pursuance of the authority vested in me in that
behalf by the said recited Act of Parliament, do
hereby proclaim and declare my disallowance of the
following Ordinances passed by the Superintendent
and Provincial Council of the Province of Welling-
ton, namely:-

"The Protection of Certain Animals Act,
Wellington, 1867," Session XV., No. 2.
"An Act to consolidate and amend the Laws
relating to the Sale of Spirituous and
Fermented Liquors," Session XV., No. 5.
"The Wanganui Bridge Amendment Act," Ses-
sion XV., No. 6.
"The Fencing Act, 1867," Session XV., No. 10.
"The District Highways Act, 1867," Session
XV., No. 11.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Grey, Knight Commander of
the Most Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New

Zealand and its Dependencies, and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
Wellington, this sixth day of July, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-seven.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," it
is "provided that it shall be lawful for the
Governor, at any time subsequent to the procla-
mation of a Gold Field, to withdraw by proclamation
therefrom any Crown Lands which he may deem it
necessary to withdraw, and such lands shall thence-
forth be dealt with, sold, occupied, and disposed of
under any law or laws for the time being in force
regulating the sale or disposal of or in any way
affecting or relating to the management or dealing
with the Crown Lands within the Province in which
such Gold Field is situate, in like manner as though
such lands had never been comprised in any pro-
claimed Gold Field."

And whereas it is deemed necessary to withdraw
from the Canterbury Gold Field the piece of land
hereinafter described :

Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor
of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that
all that piece of land containing seventy-nine (79)
acres, more or less, situate near the south bank of
the River Grey, commencing at a point on the road
reserved along the north-eastern bank of the Omoto-
moto Creek, the same being six (6) chains seventy
(70) links south-east of the Omotomoto Bridge;
thence following a line bearing North 64Β° 30'
East (magnetic) a distance of about thirty-five (35)
chains twenty (20) links; thence following another
line bearing South 40Β° 50' East (magnetic) a
distance of about sixteen (16) chains forty (40) links
to the road before mentioned; and from thence
returning along the same to the commencing point,
shall be and the same is hereby withdrawn from the
said Canterbury Gold Field.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir

Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and issued
