for the Governor of the said Colony at any time and
from time to time, by letters patent under the Public
Seal of the Colony, to appoint persons to be Com-
missioners for carrying this Act into effect, who
shall be styled "Commissioners of Native Reserves,"
and such Commissioners from time to time to
remove. And whereas by "The Native Reserves
Amendment Act, 1862," it is enacted that from and
after a day to be fixed by the Governor by Procla-
mation to be inserted in the Government Gazette of
the Colony and also of each of the Provinces of New
Zealand, all the powers and authorities which by
"The Native Reserves Act, 1856," are given to or
vested in, or which may be exercised by Commis-
sioners appointed or to be appointed under that Act,
shall vest in and may be exercised by the Governor.
And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
fourth day of August, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-three, all the said powers were, from and
after the first day of September then next ensuing,
declared to vest in the Governor of the said Colony.
And whereas by the second recited Act it is further
enacted that the Governor may, by Order in Council,
from time to time delegate all or any of the powers
competent to the Commissioners under the said Act
unto any person or persons, for any period, and
subject to such regulations and restrictions or stipu-
lations as may be specified in such Order, and every
such delegation may from time to time in like
manner be altered or revoked. And whereas His
Excellency the Governor did, by Order in Council
bearing date the twenty-eighth day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, delegate to
ROBERT PARRIS, of New Plymouth, in the Province
of Taranaki, Esquire, all the powers competent to
Commissioners under the said first recited Act
without any restrictions or stipulations whatever,
until the same shall be revoked. And whereas by the
first recited Act it is further enacted that all moneys
which shall come to the hands of the Commissioners
under the provisions of this Act, except in respect
of special endowments, shall be applied by such
Commissioners for the benefit of the aboriginal
inhabitants, for whose benefit such lands may have
been set apart, in such manner as the Governor of
the said Colony may from time to time direct: Now
therefore, His Excellency the Governor as aforesaid,
in exercise of the said power and authority, doth
hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, order the said Robert Parris,
as such Commissioner as aforesaid, to pay over such
sum or sums of money, being the produce of Native
Reserves, as have or shall from time to time come
into his hands under the provisions of the first
recited Act, to such person or persons as the Hon.
the Minister for Native Affairs for the time being
shall from time to time direct, and for such purposes
as the said Minister shall approve, on behalf of the
Natives of the said Province of Taranaki, for whose
benefit such lands may have been set apart.

that is to say—All that piece or parcel of land being
section known as the Mataikuka Reserve on plan of
the Wainui District containing two hundred and ten
(210) acres more or less, bounded towards the North
by sections numbered fifteen (15) and fourteen (14)
and by Crown land, seven thousand and fifty
(7050) links; towards the East by Crown land, two
thousand nine hundred and eighty (2980) links; to-
wards the South by Crown land, and by section No.
eighteen (18), seven thousand and fifty (7050)
links; and towards the West by sections numbered
seven (7) and seventeen (17), two thousand nine
hundred and eighty (2980) links, being land subject
to the operation of the said Acts, may be sold by the
Commissioner of Native Reserves for the sum of one
hundred and ten pounds (£110).

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
Amendment Act, 1862," it is amongst other things
provided that where under the provisions of "The
Native Reserves Act, 1856," the assent of the abori-
ginal inhabitants is required to bringing land under
the operation of the said "Native Reserves Act, 1856,"
the Governor may by Order in Council declare
such assent to have been ascertained, and thereupon
the title of the aboriginal inhabitants in the land to
which the same shall relate shall be deemed to be
extinguished, and the land shall from the date of
such Order in Council vest in Her Majesty for the
purposes and subject to the provisions of the said
"Native Reserves Act, 1856," as altered by the
recited Act, and that as effectually as if the same
had been ceded and conveyed by such aboriginal
inhabitants to Her Majesty :
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, doth hereby declare that the assent of the
aboriginal inhabitants to the bringing the piece of
land described in the Schedule hereunder written
under the operation of "The Native Reserves Act,
1856," has been ascertained.

SCHEDULE.
All that piece of land situate at Porirua, District
of Wellington. The boundary commences at Nga-
pekerere, thence to Hamutawa, thence along the
boundary of the land previously given up to the
Commissioner to Rangituhi, thence along the said
boundary to Te Uru Kahika, thence to Putaputa, (the
boundary of Ellison's land,) thence along that boun-
dary to Ngapekerere where it joins.
