ORDER IN COUNCIL.
Delegation of Governor's Powers under Gold Fields
Acts.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of December, 1865.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Fields Acts
Amendment Act, 1865," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor in Council, under his hand
and the Public Seal of the Colony, from time to time
to delegate to the Superintendent of any Province,
or such other person as the Governor may deem fit,
all or any of the powers vested in the Governor or
the Governor in Council by the Act now in recital,
or by "The Gold Fields Act, 1862," or by "The
Gold Fields Act Amendment Act, 1863," except the
powers conferred by sections nineteen, thirty-one
thirty-three, and sixty-one of the said "Gold Fields
Act, 1862," and sections nineteen and twenty-nine of
the said Act now in recital, subject or not to any
limitations or restrictions as he may think fit, and in
like manner to alter or revoke any such powers.

And whereas by certain Orders in Council, bearing
date the 18th day of November, 1865, I, Sir George
Grey, the Governor as aforesaid, did in pursuance of
the above recited powers delegate to the Superin-
tendents of Auckland, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay,
Wellington, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury,
Otago, and Southland respectively, all the powers
vested in me by the said Acts, except the powers
conferred by the sections excepted as aforesaid.

And whereas it is expedient further to except from
the said delegations the powers conferred by sections
numbers forty-two and forty-three of the said recited
Act of 1862:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor
as aforesaid of the said Colony, with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council thereof, and in
exercise of the power and authority for this purpose
in me vested, do hereby revoke so much of the afore-
said Orders in Council as delegate to the said Super-
intendents the powers conferred by sections numbers

forty-two and forty-three of "The Gold Fields Act,
1862."

ORDER IN COUNCIL
Approving of Stamp under "The Coupons Act, 1864,"
and issuing regulations for the using of the same.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of December, 1865.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Coupons Act, 1864," it is
provided that the powers created by that Act
shall not be exercised until the Governor in Council
shall have approved of the stamps to be used for the
purpose of the said Act, nor until regulations as to
the manner in which the same may be used shall
have been issued by the Governor in Council, or
except in conformity with such regulations :

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor in
Council, in exercise of the power vested in him by
the said recited Act, doth hereby approve of a certain
stamp, the description of which is hereunto annexed,
and is deposited in the office of the Colonial Secretary,
to be used for the purposes of the said Act by the
Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, and
doth hereby issue the following regulations in con-
formity with which such stamp is to be so used.

Regulations.

There shall be only one copy of such stamp for
stamping coupons under "The Coupons Act, 1864,"
in the Province of Canterbury, which stamp shall be
kept in the custody of the Provincial Treasurer of
the Province of Canterbury, in a strong box, having
two distinct locks, and two keys, one thereof to be
in the keeping of the Colonial Treasurer, or of the
Colonial Sub-Treasurer at Canterbury, and the other
in the keeping of the Superintendent of the Province
of Canterbury. The stamp shall only be delivered
out to the Superintendent upon his requisition in
writing, for the purpose of stamping a certain num-
ber of coupons mentioned in such requisition, and
