THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
Stream, then by a straight line to Mata Mata, thence
by a straight line to the summit of Te Aroha, and
thence by a straight line to the mouth of Wanga-
mata Harbour; including all the Islands in the Bay
of Plenty, East of Tuhua, and Motu Taiko, in Taupo
Lake.

TURANGA DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by the sea; on the West
by the Wakatane River, and by a straight line run-
ning South from the source of Wakatane River, to
the southern boundary of the Province of Auckland;
on the South by the southern boundary of the Pro-
vince of Auckland; and on the East by the sea,
including East Island.

ALEXANDRA DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by a line from the southern
shore of the Wangape Lake to the Waikato River,
at Puketakauri, by the Waikato River to Puketa;
on the East by a line from Puketa to Kihikihi, and
a line from Kihikihi to the most western point of the
shore of Taupo Lake, thence by the western shore of
Taupo Lake and Upper Waikato River, to the
southern boundary of the Province; on the South
by the boundary of the Province; on the West by
the western boundary of the Province, from the
Wanganui River, to the source of the Mokau River,
thence by a straight line to the summit of Pirongia,
and thence by a straight line to the Wangape Lake,
at the point of commencement.

CAMBRIDGE DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by a straight line from
Puketakauri, on the Waikato River, to the junction
of the Tahunatapu Creek with the Piako River; on
the East by the Piako River, southward to the
Waitakururu Creek, thence by a straight line to the
junction of the Orakeikorako Stream with the
Waikato River, and by the Waikato southward, to
Taupo Lake; on the South by the Northern shore of
Taupo Lake; and on the West by a straight line
from the most westerly point of the Taupo Lake, to
Kihikihi, and thence by a straight line to Puketa on
the Waikato River, and thence by the Waikato
River to Puketa Kauri, the point of commencement.

And I do declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation and take effect on the 15th day of
February, 1865.

Given under my hand, at the Government
House, at Auckland, and issued under
the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand,
this thirtieth day of January, in the year
of Our Lord One Thousand Eight
Hundred and Sixty-five.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

Representatives passed on the 26th day of November
1863, it shall be lawful for the Colonial Treasurer if
thereunto authorised by an Order of the Governor in
Council from time to time to borrow and take up
money on the security of Treasury Bills carrying
interest at a rate not exceeding six per centum
per annum, and payable out of the Ordinary Revenue,
at the expiration of a term not exceeding two years
from the date thereof. Provided that the total
amount of Principal money owing on the security of
such Treasury Bills, for the time being in circulation
shall not at any time exceed Fifty thousand pounds
(£50,000.)

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Colony,
doth hereby authorise the Honorable William
Fitzherbert, Colonial Treasurer of New Zealand, to
borrow and take up a sum or sums not exceeding in
the whole the sum of Fifty Thousand pounds
(£50,000) sterling, and to issue Treasury Bills
therefor on the terms for the purpose, and subject
to the conditions hereinbefore recited.

Notification to Claimants for Compensation under au-
thority of "The New Zealand Settlements Act,
1863."

WHEREAS, by an Order in Council made on the
29th day of December, 1864, under the au-
thority of Sections 3 and 4 of "The New Zealand
Settlements Act, 1863," His Excellency the Gover-
nor did declare that certain lands thereunder de-
scribed, or referred to, in the District of Waikato,
belonging to the Waikato and other Rebellious
Tribes, were required for the purposes of the said
Act, and were subject to the provisions thereof: And
whereas it is provided by the said Act that compen-
sation shall be granted to all persons who shall have
any title, interest, or claim to any Land taken under
the said Act, provided always that no compensation
shall be granted to any of the persons following—
that is to say, to any person,

(1) Who shall, since the 1st of January, 1863,
have been engaged in levying or making war, or
carrying arms against Her Majesty the Queen, or
Her Majesty's Forces in New Zealand; or
(2) Who shall have adhered to, or aided, assisted,
or comforted, any such persons as aforesaid; or
(3) Who shall have counselled, advised, induced,
enticed, persuaded, or conspired with any other per-
son to make or levy war against Her Majesty, or to
carry arms against Her Majesty's Forces in New
Zealand, or to join with or assist any such persons
as are before mentioned in sub-sections (1) and (2);
or,
(4) Who, in furtherance or in execution of the de-
signs of any such persons as aforesaid, shall have
been, either as principal or accessory, concerned in
any outrage against person or property; or,
(5) Who, on being required by the Governor, by
Proclamation to that effect in the Government Ga-
zette, to deliver up the arms in their possession, shall
refuse or neglect to comply with such demand after
a certain day to be specified in such Proclamation.

And it is further provided that compensation shall
be granted according to the nature of the title, inte-
rest, or claim of the person requiring compensation,
and according to the value thereof: Provided always
that no claim shall be entertained unless the same
shall have been preferred in writing to the Colonial
Secretary by the Claimant, if residing in the Colony,

is enacted that in order to provide means in
advance of the receipt of the Ordinary Revenue for
defraying any expenditure which may be necessary
for carrying out a Resolution of the House of
