ORDER IN COUNCIL,
Directing investment by Trustees of sums held by them
for the purposes of a sinking fund under "The
Otago Loan Ordinance, 1861," "The Otago Loan
Ordinance, 1861-2," and "The Otago Loan
Ordinance, 1862."

At the Government House, at Wellington, the
twenty-eighth day of June, 1865.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Otago Loan Ordinance,
1861," passed by the Superintendent and Pro-
vincial Council of the Province of Otago, provision
was made for raising a loan of Fifty thousand pounds,
for the public service of the said Province and for
the liquidation of its public debt;

And whereas by "The Otago Loan Ordinance,
1861-2," provision was made for the appointment by
the Governor of Trustees for receiving such sums as
by the said Ordinance are required to be paid to
them;

And whereas by the said last-mentioned Ordinance
it is further provided that every sum so paid should
be invested on the security of debentures issued by
the General Government, or otherwise as His Excel-
lency the Governor and the Superintendent should
direct;

And whereas by "The Otago Loan Ordinance,
1862," provision was made for raising a loan of Five
hundred thousand pounds for the public service of
the Province of Otago, and for providing a sinking
fund for the liquidation thereof;

And whereas by the said Ordinance it was
provided that certain sums should be from time to time paid
to two trustees, to be from time to time appointed by
His Excellency the Governor, for the purpose of
forming a sinking fund as aforesaid.

And whereas by the same Ordinance it was further
provided that every sum so paid should be invested
on the security of debentures issued by the General
Government, or otherwise as His Excellency the
Governor and the Superintendent should direct;

And whereas Alfred Rowland Chetham Strode, of
Dunedin, and John Jones, of Waikouaiti, have been
duly appointed trustees under and by virtue of the
powers in the said respective Ordinances in that behalf
contained;

And whereas the said Trustees have received and
now hold for the purposes of the said sinking funds
by the said respective Ordinances provided for certain
sums as hereinafter mentioned, that is to say, for the
purposes of "The Otago Loan Ordinance, 1861," and
"The Otago Loan Ordinance, 1861-2," the sum of
One thousand seven hundred and twenty-one pounds
eleven shillings, and for the purposes of "The Otago
Loan Ordinance, 1862," the sum of Ten thousand two
hundred and seventy-five pounds.

And whereas it is expedient that the said sums of
One thousand seven hundred and twenty-one pounds
eleven shillings, and Ten thousand two hundred and
seventy-five pounds, should be respectively invested
on the security of debentures issued by the General
Government:

Now therefore His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise of the power vested in him by the said recited
Ordinances doth hereby with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the Colony, order and
direct that the said sums of One thousand seven
hundred and twenty-one pounds eleven shillings, and
Ten thousand two hundred and seventy-five pounds,
respectively, shall be invested on the security of
debentures issued by the General Government.

CUSTOMS.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned
warehouse in the Port of Auckland, has been
duly approved under the 11th clause of "The
Customs Regulation Act, 1858," for the reception
of goods under bond :-

The one half of the lower story of a store situated
in the rear of Messrs. Henderson and
Macfarlane's free stores, Lower Queen Street,
having an entrance from a lane turning off
from Fort Street, in the occupation of Messrs.
Henderson and Macfarlane, and known as
HENDERSON AND MACFARLANE'S WAREHOUSE.

CUSTOMS.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned
warehouse has been approved and appointed
under the eleventh section of "The Customs Regu-
lation Act, 1858," as a warehouse for the reception
of goods under bond, without payment of duties
upon the first entry thereof:---

The whole of a detached wooden building, situate
on Taupo Quay, Wanganui, facing Taupo
Quay, occupied by William Thomas Owen,
and known as Owen's Warehouse.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned
person has been duly licensed to act as a
Custom House Agent at the Port of Wanganui, for the
year ending 31st December, 1865 :---

Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act, 1854,"
the following name of an OFFICIATING MINISTER,
within the meaning of the said Act, is published
for general information :

I, JOHN B. BENNETT, Registrar-General of Births,
Deaths, and Marriages in New Zealand, do hereby
certify that the foregoing NAME of an OFFICIATING
MINISTER, within the meaning of "The Marriage
Act, 1854," has been sent in to me in addition to
the names in Lists published in the New Zealand
Gazette, No. 3, of the 31st of January; No. 12, of
the 8th of April; No. 13, of the 25th of April; No.
18, of the 31st of May; No. 22, of the 27th of June;
and No. 23, of the 11th of July, in the present year.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this
thirteenth day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five.
