Colony of New Zealand, under the "New Zealand
Settlements Act, 1863," and has been pleased to
appoint

JAMES MACKAY, Esquire,
to be Judges thereof.

Rules relating to payment of Militia Pensions.

Colonial Defence Office,
Auckland, 7th January, 1865.
THE following Rules are published for the infor-
mation of persons entitled to Pensions, under
the Regulations of the 17th November last for grant-
ing Pensions to persons discharged from the Militia
Service.

Rules relative to the payment of Pensions under the
"Militia Acts Amendment Act, 1862."

  1. In every instance of a Pension being granted to
    a man belonging to any of the Militia Regiments
    or Volunteer Corps, the same will be notified to
    the Sub-Treasurer of the Province where the
    Pensioner resides.
  2. The notification to the Sub-Treasurer will be ac-
    companied by a Certificate containing, among
    other particulars, a description of the Pensioner.
  3. The Pensions will be paid quarterly at the Colo-
    nial Treasury, or at the Sub-Treasury of the
    Province in which the Pensioner resides.
  4. Any Pensioner is at liberty to remove to any
    Province in the Colony, at his discretion; but
    he must bear in mind, if he does so without first
    apprising the Treasurer of the Province in which
    he resides of his intention, and signing a
    Transfer Certificate, no provision can be made
    for paying him in the Province to which he may
    remove.

IT is notified for public information that no Survey
or Plan will be recognized by the Court, unless
made by a Surveyor duly licensed under the "Native
Land Court Act, 1862."
