PROCLAMATION
Declaring Detonating Caps, Powder, &c., Warlike
Stores.

By His Excellency SIR GEORGE GREY, Knight
Commander of the Most Honorable Order
of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by "The Arms Act, 1860," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor
by Proclamation published in the New Zealand
Gazette, from time to time, to declare what Articles
shall be considered as Warlike Stores for the purposes
of the said Act, and also for the purposes of an
Ordinance of Lieutenant-Governor and Legislative
Council of New Zealand, passed in the sixth session
of the said Council, intituled "An Ordinance to
empower the Governor of New Zealand to regulate
the importation and sale of Arms, Gunpowder, and
other Warlike Stores."

Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor
of the said Colony, in pursuance and exercise of the
said power and authority, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the undermentioned Articles, shall
(amongst others) be considered as Warlike Stores, for
the purpose above mentioned, that is to sayβ€”
Detonating Caps, Powder, and all other articles
capable of being used for the discharging of fire-
arms.

Given under my hand at the Government
House at Wellington, this eighth day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and
sixty-five.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Auckland, the
eleventh day of May, 1865.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Coupons Act, 1864," it is
provided that the powers created by that Act
shall not be exercised until the Governor in Council
shall have approved of the Stamps to be used for the
purpose of the said Act, nor until Regulations as to
the manner in which the same may be used shall have
been issued by the Governor in Council, or except
in conformity with such Regulations :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor in
Council, in exercise of the power vested in him by
the said recited Act, doth hereby approve of a certain
Stamp, the description of which is heunto annexed,
and is deposited in the office of the Colonial
Secretary, to be used for the purposes of the said Act
by the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland,
and doth hereby issue the following Regulations in
conformity with which such Stamp is to be so used.

Regulations.

There shall be only one copy of such Stamp for
stamping Coupons under "The Coupons Act, 1864,"
in the Province of Auckland, which Stamp shall be
kept in the custody of the Provincial Treasurer of
the Province of Auckland, in a strong box, having
two keys: one thereof to be in the keeping of the
Colonial Treasurer, or of the Colonial Sub-Treasurer
at Auckland, and the other in the keeping of the
Superintendent of the Province of Auckland. The
Stamp shall only be delivered out to the Superin-
tendent upon his requisition in writing, for the
purpose of stamping a certain number of Coupons
mentioned in such requisition, and shall be returned
