WITH reference to the reward of £300
offered in a notice dated 5th June,
1861, to any person or persons who would
give such information as would lead to the
conviction of any person or persons who
might in any manner have aided Natives in
obtaining gunpowder or other munitions of
war: it is hereby notified for general infor-
mation that that notice is cancelled, and that
in future a reward of ONE HUNDRED
POUNDS only will be paid in each case.

THE following Proclamation, issued by His
Honor the Superintendent of Canterbury
under the "Diseased Cattle Act, 1861," is
published for general information.

PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by Proclamation dated Oct.
30th, 1862, the Province of Otago was
declared to be an infected district within the
meaning of the "Diseased Cattle Act, 1861,"
and it was declared that no cattle should be
imported from the said Province either by
land or sea: Now, therefore, I, SAMUEL
BEALEY, Superintendent of the Province of
Canterbury, by virtue of the powers vested
in me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare the following Regulations for the
destruction of diseased cattle and for prevent-
ing the introduction of cattle out of the said
infected district into the Province of Canter-
bury.
I. If any person shall drive or remove, or
cause to be driven or removed, or assist
in driving or removing any cattle from
the said infected district into the Pro-
vince of Canterbury, such person shall
be liable to a penalty of fifty pounds
for every head of cattle so driven into
the Province of Canterbury.
II. It shall be lawful for any Inspector of
Cattle or Police Constable to destroy
or cause to be destroyed any cattle
which shall pass into this Province
from the District of the Province of
Otago.
III. If any person shall wilfully impede or
obstruct any Inspector or any Police
Constable acting under the authority
of these Regulations, every person so
offending shall and may be seized and
detained by such person so acting as
aforesaid, or any person or persons he
may call to his assistance, until such
offender or offenders can be taken
before two Justices of the Peace, and
shall be liable to a penalty of Fifty
Pounds.
