shall exceed that amount with two sufficient
sureties being resident householders to the
satisfaction of the Collector or Chief Officer of
Customs at the port of clearance that such
Gunpowder or Warlike Stores as the case may
be shall be landed at the place for which they
are declared to be shipped the proof of which
shall lie upon the shipper thereof by the pro-
duction of the certificate of the Collector or
other Chief Officer of Customs or Consul or
other public officer at the place where landed
or such other proof as shall satisfy the Collector
or other Chief Officer of Customs at the place of
shipment within a reasonable time to be men-
tioned in such bond and in failure thereof the
shipper shall be liable to a penalty of five hun-
dred pounds to be recovered at the suit of such
Collector or Chief Officer of Customs or of
Her Majesty's Attorney General in the Su-
preme Court of New South Wales and that in
default of payment of such penalty by the said
shipper it shall be lawful for the said Collector
or Chief Officer or Attorney General to put the
said bond in suit in the said Court and
to recover such amount or value as the case
may be by information or otherwise.
3. All sums recovered in virtue of this Act
shall go and be paid to the Colonial Treasurer
for the purpose of the Consolidated Revenue of
the said Colomy..
4. This Act shall come into effect from the
passing thereof and shall continue in force for
two years thereafter and shall be styled and may
be cited as the "Gunpowder Export Restric-
tion Act of 1862."

in-Chief in and over Her Ma-
jesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, &c., &c.
I
N exercise of the power in me for this pur-
pose vested by the "Customs Regulation
Act, 1858," I, Sir George Grey, the Go-
vernor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby revoke an Order given under the hand
of J. W. Hamilton, Esquire, collector of Her
Majesty's Customs at the Port of Lyttelton,
dated 16th of March, 1855, approving of " that
portion of the building situated on Norwich
Quay, Lyttelton, and known as the Canterbury
Association Store," as a Warehouse for the re-
ception of Goods under Bond, and do hereby
appoint, that this revocation shall take effect
from the first day of February, 1863.
