GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!
A PROCLAMATION
Extending Jurisdiction of the Resident
Magistrates' Courts at Wellington, Wan-
ganui, and Nelson.
By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY,
Knight Commander of the Most
Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same, &c, &c.
WHEREAS by the "Resident Magistrates'
Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1862," it
is enacted that every case of a claim for debt
or damages such as might at the passing of
the said Act be lawfully tried in a Resident
Magistrate's Court, where the debt or damages
claimed do not exceed Twenty Pounds, may
be tried in any Resident Magistrate's Court,
with respect to which this Act shall be in
operation, when the debt or damages claimed
do not exceed Fifty Pounds:
And it is provided that the Governor may
by Proclamation in the Government Gazette
of the Colony declare that the limit of juris-
diction of any such Court shall be extended to
One Hundred Pounds, and such limit of juris-
diction shall be in such case extended accord-
ingly:
Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the
Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
said recited Act and of an Order in Council
dated the 17th day of December, 1862, autho-
rising the issue of Proclamations under the said
Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
provisions of the said recited Act and especially
the powers conferred by sections two and three
thereof, shall be exercised to the limit of
Jurisdiction of One Hundred Pounds in the
Resident Magistrates' Courts at Wellington,
Wanganui, and Nelson; and I do further pro-
claim and declare that this Proclamation shall
take effect on and from the first day of Feb-
ruary, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
three.

THE following Act received from the Gov-
ernment New South Wales is publish-
ed for general information.
ALFRED DOMETT.
No. IV.
AN ACT to regulate for a limited time the
Exportation of Gunpowder and Warlike
Stores from the Colony of New South
Wales. [Assented to, 13th October, 1862.]
WHEREAS the duration of the "Gun-
powder Export Restriction Act of 1863"
was limited to a period of two years from the
date of the passing thereof And whereas it is
expedient again to regulate for a limited time
the Exportation of Gunpowder and Warlike
Stores from the Colony of New South Wales
Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most
Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council and Legis-
lative Assembly of New South Wales in Par-
liament assembled and by the authority of the
same as follows:-

During the continuance of this Act no
vessel having Gunpowder or Warlike Stores on
board in greater quantity than may in the
opinion of the Collector or Chief Officer of Cus-
toms at the port of clearance be required for the
ordinary use and service of such vessel or of any
passenger proceeding thereby shall be cleared
at any port in the said Colony without a license
under the hand of the Governor or of the Co-
lonial Treasurer And any Gunpowder or War-
like Stores shipped contrary to this Act shall
be forfeited. -
Before any Gunpowder or Warlike Stores
shall be shipped under any such license as
aforesaid the shipper thereof shall be required
to state in writing the name of the place at
which it is intended they shall be landed and
to give security by bond for five hundred
pounds or treble the amount of the value of the
Gunpowder or Warlike Stores so shipped if it
