THE following Act of the Colony of Victoria
is published for general information.

ALFRED DOMETT.

An Act to authorize the Exportation from
the Colony of Victoria free of
Customs duty of Gold not being
the produce of the said Colony and
for other purposes. [18th June, 1862.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent
Majesty and with the advice and con-
sent of the Legistative Council and the Legisla-
tive Assembly of Victoria in this present Parlia-
ment assembled and by the authority of the
same as follows that is to say-

  1. No duty shall be levied or collected upon
    any gold not being the produce of the Colony
    of Victoria brought by sea from any place
    beyond the said colony to any port in the said
    colony for exportation from the said colony
    and which shall be duly entered upon the
    manifest of the vessel in which it shall be so
    brought Provided the provisions hereinafter
    contained shall be complied with.

  2. The consignee or person in possession of
    any such gold shall immediately after the arrival
    of the vessel in which it shall be brought pass
    a transhipping entry therefor and shall make
    a declaration in the form contained in the
    schedule to this Act and shall deposit such
    gold until it shall be removed for exportation
    in such place and in such manner as shall be
    prescribed by the regulations hereinafter men-
    tioned.

  3. It shall be lawful for the Commissioner
    of Trade and Customs to permit any gold so
    brought as aforesaid into the said colony to be
    removed for the purpose of being assayed
    provided the consignee or person in possession
    thereof shall enter into a bond with two suffi-
    cient sureties in the amount of half-a-crown for
    every ounce conditioned that such gold shall
    immediately after being assayed be returned to
    the place appointed for its deposit and shall be
    exported from the said colony.

  4. It shall be lawful for the Governor in
    Council from time to time to make such regula-
    tions as shall be necessary for prescribing the
    places and the manner in which gold so brought
    into the said colony shall be deposited the con-
    ditions upon which it may be removed for the
