HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint the following persons
to be Licensing Officers under the provisions
of "The Arms Act, 1860":
At Collingwood-D. JOHNSTON, Esquire,
Sub-Collector of Customs.
At Invercargill-A. J. ELLES, Esquire,
Sub-Collector of Customs.
READER WOOD.
MARLBOROUGH MILITIA.
By virtue and in exercise of the authority
in me vested, I, WILLIAM DOUGLAS
HALL BAILLIE, Captain Commanding the
Marlborough Battalion of Militia, do hereby
appoint and declare that the said Battalion
shall be formed into four Companies as follows,
viz.
No. 1, BLENHEIM COMPANY.
Within a line commencing at the Wairau
river, and proceeding southwards along the
line of road between sections 101 and 105
Wairau west and Block 50 and 51, Omaka, and
thence produced in a straight line to the boun-
dary ridge between the Wairau and Awatere
Valleys; thence eastward along the
dividing ridge to the White Bluff; thence
northwards along the coast line to White's
Bay; thence Westward along a straight line
to the confluence of Tua Marina and Wairau
rivers; thence westward along the Wairau
river to the commencing point.
No. 2, PICTON COMPANY.
Within a line commencing at White's Bay;
thence westward along a straight line to the
confluence of the Tua Marina and Wairau
rivers; thence westward along the Wairau
river to a point opposite the road between
sections 101 and 105, Wairau west; thence
a line produced northwards in the direc-
tion of the last named road, until it intersects
the boundary of the electoral district of Picton;
thence westward along the boundary of the
electoral district of Picton, to the westward
line of the Militia district; thence northward
and eastward along the boundary of the Militia
district to Cook's Strait; thence running
along the coast line to the commencing
point.
No. 3, WAIHOPAI COMPANY.
Within a line commencing at the Red Hills,
at the intersection of the boundary of the
electoral district of Picton with the boundary
of the Militia district; thence running east-
ward along the boundary of the electoral
district of Picton, to the north-east corner of
the electoral district of the Upper Wairau;
thence southward along the eastern boundary
of the Upper Wairau district to the dividing
ridge between the Wairau and Awatere
Valleys; thence westward along the said
dividing ridge to the boundary of the Militia
district; thence northward along the boundary
of the Militia district to the commencing
point.
No. 4, AWATERE COMPANY.
Within a line commencing at the White
Bluff; thence running south-east and south-
west along the coast to the boundary of the
Militia district; thence west and north-west
to the dividing ridge between the Wairau and
Awatere Valleys; thence north-east along the
said ridge to the commencing point.

Mail Steamer, at and from the several Ports, is published for general information.
The alterations will commence from the 4th October.
