quarry road to its junction with the Epsom
road, thence southward along the centre of
the Epsom road to the junction of the Great
South road; thence south-eastwards along
the centre of the Great South road to the
"Harp of Erin" Hotel; thence in a direct
line northward to that branch of the Oraki
creek which bounds the sheep quarantine
ground; thence down the said creek to the
sea; thence westward along the high-
water mark of the Waitemata harbour to the
Scoria creek; thence southward along the
Scoria creek to the point first above de-
scribed.
The 2nd Division, a line commencing at the
point where the Karangahape road crosses the
Scoria creek at a stone bridge, then eastward
along the southern boundary of the 1st Division,
as above described, to the "Harp of Erin"
hotel; thence south-eastward along the centre
of the Great South road to Saint Anne's
bridge; thence westward along the high water
mark of the north side of the Manakau har-
bour to the point where it would be cut by the cir-
cumference of a circle having a radius of 15 miles
from the point where the Great South road inter-
sects the western boundary line of "Clendon's"
Grant, thence northward along the circumfer-
ence of such circle until it cuts the high water
mark of the Waitemata harbour, thence
along the high water mark of the Waitemata
harbour to the Scoria creek; thence up the
Scoria creek to the point first above described.
The 3rd Division, a line commencing at the
"Harp of Erin" Hotel on the Great South road,
thence northward along the east boundary of the
1st Division, as before described, to the sea;
thence generally eastward along the high water
mark of the Waitemata harbour to the point
where it would be cut by the circumference
of a circle having a radius of 15 miles from
the point where the Great South road inter-
sects the Western boundary of "Clendon's
Grant," thence southward along the circum-
ference of such circle until it cuts the high
water mark of the Manakau harbour to Saint
Anne's bridge on the Great South road; thence
north-westward along the centre of the Great
South road, being part of the boundary of the
2nd Division, to the "Harp of Erin" Hotel
the point first above described.

The Militiamen resident in each such
Division shall constitute a Battalion. -
Each Battalion shall be divided into three
classes. The first class shall consist of all
unmarried men, and all widowers without
children, between the ages of sixteen years
and forty years, both inclusive, who shall be
called first class service men. The second
class shall consist of all married men and
widowers with children between the same ages
who shall be called second class service men;
and the third class shall be called the reserve
men. -
The men of each class shall be formed by
the senior officer of each Battalion, into one
or more company or companies, he having
regard in such formation to secure as far as possible,
contiguity of residence of the men in each
Company.

TARANAKI MILITIA REGULATIONS.
BY virtue and in exercise of the authority
in me vested by the Militia Act, 1858,
and the Militia Act Amendment Act, 1860, I,
Thomas Gore Browne, Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby make and issue the
following orders for the regulation of the Tara-
naki Regiment of Militia:-

The Taranaki Militia District shall not
be divided, but the Taranaki Regiment shall
constitute one Battalion. -
Such Battalion shall be divided into three
classes. -
The first class shall consist of all unmarried
men and all widowers without children between
the ages of sixteen years and forty years, both
inclusive, who shall be called the first class
service men. The second class shall consist of all
married men and widowers with children be-
tween the same ages, who shall be called
second class service men; and the third class
shall consist of all men between the ages of
forty years and fifty-five years, who shall be
called the reserve men. -
The men of each class shall be formed by
the Senior Officer of the Battalion into one or
more Company or Companies, he having regard
in such formation to secure, as far as possible,
contiguity of residence of the men in each
Company.

LATIONS.
